A Message from the 👑:

Here’s to 10 years of Gumbo and everything still to come. Let’s celebrate to tonight in true Gumbo fashion, Sound clash vibe Afrobeats & R&B V Soca & Dancehall with yours truly and @jordior , come ready to dance!

Hard to put into words what this event means to me. From the very beginning of my DJ journey, Gumbo gave me a space to grow, to learn, and to become the DJ I am today. Some of my most favourite and memorable moments behind the decks have happened on the Gumbo stage, including opportunities I never could’ve imagined, like Afropunk. 🖤

To the late great Sean Sax - thank you for being an incredible teacher. Your lessons live on every time I touch the decks 🙏🏾.

To my big brothers Chi and Wan - thank you for always believing in me and for continuously creating spaces where magic happens 🤎.

Gumbo Massive 🔊 On May 2 we are our launching our first exhibition as part of Contact Photo Festival featuring our main 📸 shooter @rellknox and other artists/photographers and a decade of archival Gumbo material reimagined as installation art. For opening night we’ll be screening a new Gumbo piece, a cinematic poem co-created with @blkbeta and @randelladjei . A pop-up kiosk will carry limited Gumbo merch and a spread of nostalgic goodies. Resident @djrevy_b and friends will provide the sounds.

This show is for our trybe. The people inside the Gumbo discotek. The DJs and dancers who graced our stages. The photographers who memorialized these special moments. The creative minds we’ve built with. This is for YOU! Come as you are. Partiful and Eventbrite links in bio.

Rounding up the #shebelady line up alongside @tweet_ this year is @whoisamaka . She’s a Nigerian‑born Alt‑R&B artist known for soul‑baring lyrics and ethereal, emotionally immersive performances recognized across Canada, the U.S., and Europe by CBC Music, Lyrical Lemonade, and BBC Radio 1Xtra. A live recording of her last Toronto show is currently sitting at 3 million+ on Youtube, a testament to the quiet power and intimacy of her live shows. Come and immerse yourself Friday March 6.
