💙 Happy World Ocean Day! 💙

"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. [...] To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known." - Carl Sagan

From 6 billion kilometers away, we can still see our ocean and today we celebrate it. Take a moment today to reflect on your memories about the ocean and in the water, and remember why we must protect this pale blue dot.

Today marks 2 years since we've formed this organization. We're humbled at the support we've received and what we've been able to accomplish together. 🙏

Do you feel like the closer you get to nature, the more sensitive you are to her alarms?

This quote was taken from a recent episode of one of our favorite podcasts @how2saveaplanet where @ayanaeliza and @abexlumberg interview Bren about his work growing "sequoias of the sea" (a.k.a. kelp) in our backyard, the Long Island Sound!

Bren is the executive director of @greenwaveorg and founder of Thimble Island Ocean Farm and is pioneering the development of regenerative ocean farming.

Join us in celebrating women and girls in science all over the world! 🎉 Today, women account for only 30% of the world’s researchers and even less in the fields of marine sciences.

We want to highlight an organization who's doing incredible work to inspire and highlight women in ocean sciences @womeninoceanscience

And, if you know someone who is pursuing a career in marine sciences please refer them to the link in our bio, and encourage them to apply for our diver(city) fund. by @superdiveorg

Today is World Oceans Day and it marks our 1 year anniversary as an organization. In the last year we have cleaned beaches, surfaced debris from the ocean, and introduced divers to the underwater world waiting in their backyards. Today is a day to celebrate the ocean. So take a moment and reflect on the times it’s strengthened bonds within your community, welcomed you into a new community, or maybe it’s been a distant blip on your radar but you can appreciate its awesomeness.

This World Oceans Day is different than prior years. We are facing a pandemic that has limited access for many to our shores and waters, and more recently the whole world has woken up to act on systemic racism. Today is different.

We at the Superdive Foundation express solidarity with black people, people of color, indigenous people, and any persons experiencing social and environmental injustice. We recognize that standing is not enough. We recognize that our environmental challenges cannot be solved without working toward a solution for our social injustices. In our action we will make mistakes, however, we will continue listening, learning, and growing as an organization.

Last year we announced the diver(city) fund, and were able to introduce a few people to the underwater world. Today we would like to announce that we’ve reshaped the fund. Its sole purpose will be granting scholarships to people of color pursuing a career in diving or studying marine sciences and conservation. We will begin accepting scholarship applications August 1st 2020 and will be announcing the requirements and details in a later post.

We implore you to join us in learning from and supporting the work of @naacp, @eji_org, and any of your local social justice organizations working toward dismantling systemic racism.

This long-lasted problem needs a long lasting solution. We are committed, we’re not going anywhere.

This is our little blue dot. We love this blue dot.

This blue dot is our home. It gives us food to eat, mountains to climb, oceans to dive, and safe sunshine to bath in. It gives us life and nurtures our purpose.

We ask you for two things today:
• Take a moment to reflect on your favorite memories with nature.
• Take a moment to realize your part in conserving that nature.

This little blue dot is all we have, it’s our entire world.
Happy Earth Day.

We would love to hear your reflections. and realizations in the comments below, and tag a friend you can’t wait to go outside with!

Happy World Recycling Day! We often get asked what do we do with the plastic we've collected. Well, it's been sitting in storage, waiting... until now. We're excited to announce our recycling program where we transform the plastic we find on our shores and underwater into something new.

We're working on our first product and almost ready to announce what it is. Can you guess what we're working on? Comment below for a chance to win one from our very first batch. taken in New York, New York by @superdiveorg

In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals (officially known as the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs). These goals have the power to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change. Guided by the goals, it is now up to all of us, governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.

Fast forward to 2020 and it’s now crunch time. Progress has been made but nowhere near enough to achieve the Global Goals. Everyone needs to come together and make this a Super Year of action for people and for planet. Which is why we’ve decided to to work towards a few of these goals ourselves.

In the next few days we will be announcing a shift in the way we are conducting business as well as additional opportunities for individuals to get involved.
