What a great group of people in such a great space! Last night the QSWAB OC had its monthly meeting at the beautiful and unique @plaxallgallery. We heard from the Super Dive Foundation about their beach and underwater cleanups, as well as CHEKPED’s TOSS (Trash Off Sidewalk Space) initiative in Hells Kitchen. Exciting things on the horizon. We’ll see everyone again in March! #zerowaste #zeroby2030

Hi, I’m Regs! A Chesapeake Bay Retriever rescued by @superdiveorg.

My name is short for a scuba diver’s life support system – their regulators.

I like long walks at beach cleanups and dive trips. Come meet me at our next event :)

Whether you're hitting the beaches, or hitting the slopes, diving in the tropics or ice diving in the North East, @stream2sea has got you covered. We're proud to be partnered with the ONLY mineral sunscreen tested and proven reef safe.⠀
⠀
Reef safe means no toxic chemicals. So when the snow melts nothing harmful seeps into the ground and potentially contaminating water sources.⠀

Full disclosure, it's an affiliate link and your purchase will also help fund our efforts at the Superdive Foundation!

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure to be on a boat for three days with @nakaweproject, @diveninjas, and citizen scientists collecting water data and looking for striped marlin in Baja California Sur.
.
At the southernmost tip of Baja California Sur is Cabo San Lucas – a big marlin sportfishing competition is held there each year. In 2006 the highest grand prize was recorded at over $4 million!
.
The Nakawe Project is working hard to show that responsible eco-tourism is not only more sustainable but more valuable to the local economies. These fish are worth more alive in the wild than hanging in the town square.

We just ordered our @stream2sea sunscreen for our volunteers coming out to our monthly beach cleanup this Saturday. It’s important to use #reefsafe sunscreen even in NYC waters, because our divers can tell you (and show you) the coral living in our backyards! Go to the @stream2sea website and use code SUPERDIVE10 at checkout to get 10% off your order.

Believe it or not, we have coral and reefs here in NYC. At our beach cleanups our divers are always cutting away ghost gear and picking up bottles near the white coral, and red sponges. We believe it’s important to take the extra step and expose the reefs to any additional hazardous while we’re cleaning them up, or just enjoying them on a fun dive. This is why we’ve partnered up with @stream2sea to have their #reefsafe sunscreen on hand at all of our events. You can use our promo code SUPERDIVE10 for 10% off any of their products. Give them some love with a follow, and we look forward to seeing you at our next event.

In 2 days we’ll be back at it again cleaning beach 8th street! If you haven’t yet registered or RSVP’d please do so by following the link in our bio! Some exciting last minute news. We’ve partnered up with @savagesickonyc, a Queens based natural juice startup dedicated to protecting our oceans and saving our sharks. All of their juices come in beautiful glass containers that beg to be used again and again. On Saturday they will have a table set up next to ours and handing out their refreshing watermelon coconut juice to anyone cleaning the beach. Head over to their page and give them some love and a follow!
