A few weeks ago we had the pleasure to be on a boat for three days with @nakaweproject, @diveninjas, and citizen scientists collecting water data and looking for striped marlin in Baja California Sur.

At the southernmost tip of Baja California Sur is Cabo San Lucas – a big marlin sportfishing competition is held there each year. In 2006 the highest grand prize was recorded at over $4 million!

The Nakawe Project is working hard to show that responsible eco-tourism is not only more sustainable but more valuable to the local economies. These fish are worth more alive in the wild than hanging in the town square.
