✨ Thursday Thoughts ✨ There’s a lot of Alphabet Soup behind my name. Although it is not ignored by me the importance and significance these letters bare and the knowledge they have gave me in better helping my clients- the true MVP of the lineup is the credential of MAMA. Because I bare this title I am more empathetic, patient, and attentive towards my clients needs because this “credential” earned through the school of hard knocks has shown me that every feeding journey (my own and others) can be different from the original or the subsequent ones due to MANY factors. Knowledge is important, don’t get me wrong. But as my mama always told me, people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. I’m not saying you have to be a mom to be empathetic, but I am suggesting there are some things you cannot truly be empathetic to unless you’ve gone through it yourself. Every journey matters. I’d love to support yours. DM me if you are in need of Lactation assistance.
Please like and share this with another mama this may help. #IBCLC #Momlife #controversial #breastfeedingmom #lactationconsultant by @supportedlatch

✨ Friday Facts ✨

“So you’re a lactation consultant, what do you actually?” Well contrary to popular belief the job involves more than staring at boobs all day and some of the ways I help moms never involve seeing their breasts ( and I am NEVER hands on without client consent). There is just as much emotional support, listening support, as hands on evaluation needed when it comes to supporting mamas on a breastfeeding journey and when I’m doing a virtual consultation that is an observational assessment so learning to listen and troubleshoot is key to getting to the root of the problem and developing a plan. But on top of traditional feeding issues, I also consult for acute issues (assess and then refer if diagnosis needed. Lactation consultants cannot diagnose ) and medication safety clearance when it comes to breast-feeding, I also have helped clients navigating when they felt it was time to wean and develop a plan and help process and support their feelings through this among other things. So yes there are a lot of hats 👒 🧢 🎩 when it comes to breastfeeding and supporting a mama’s journey!!! If you’re a mama needing some extra guidance, encouragement or support (or you know of a mama in need ) please reach out or share. ✨ Happy Friday ✨ stay tuned for a big announcement 📣 this weekend ✨ #Lactation #breastmilk #Breastfeedingsupport #IBCLC #MamasSupportMamas #NorthCentralFlorida #NewMom #MomSupport #FeedingSupport #BreastfeedingJourney #SmallBusiness #SupportSmall #SupportLocal #MomBoss by @supportedlatch

There is POWER in Community

Update :
90% sure crib , crib mattress, need has been met, Highchair need has been met

Needs I didn’t even mention have been offered - slumber pod
Breastmilk bags,
Etc.

DM’s saying Can I do this / could we do that?
That’s the BEAUTY of crowd sourcing- ideas and solutions may pop up that on our own we never may have thought of.

Sometimes as one person it can feel like we can’t do it all - and we’re not supposed to - we were never made to carry the weight of all the world but that shouldn’t stop us from contributing- we can still help piece by piece.
Your 2 mites may be someone’s everything.

I was really convicted last week, I was at a funeral of a family friend gone way to soon and the eulogist said some people see needs and that’s it , write them off as something they can’t change or don’t have time / resources for. And other people meet needs - and we were challenged to live our lives in a way that met others needs like this individual selflessly had in their life.

Another convicting thing was the sermon I heard Sunday morning and the guest speaker spoke about the best way to show others Jesus is simple kindness- it doesn’t have to cost you anything- it could be as simple as a smile or a prayer they never know you said or SHARING a need - don’t underestimate the impact of your reach.
The need may seem small and insignificant to you but it could mean the world for the person it’s blessing.

So thank you .

Thank you for being here and thank you for showing up for a family you don’t know but who will forever be impacted by your kindness. #newmom #momssupportingmoms #powerincommunity #community #bethegood by @supportedlatch

Happy November Supported Latch Fam 🫶 I am so grateful for every single follower here. Whether current client, past client, future client or supportive friend. I wish I could say Yes to every single consultation opportunity but I am a multitasking mama of three young Littles. Still I hope we can work together- and to ensure this as much advance notice as possible appreciated please help me spread the word - P.S. Am I the only one who thinks heatless curls the most underrated Postpartum/Mom Hack - where were these things my first two children?! by @supportedlatch

Thursday Thoughts - As a Mom I try not to stress the last minute things that pop up - and try to follow my mom’s philosophy of KISS (keep it simple sweetheart) that being said I love me a easy festive craft and these all take 5 mins or less and are probably things you have already available #Mom #spookysnack #snackinspo #momwin #toddlerapproved Which One Is Your Favorite?! If you ever wonder what care I try to provide to ever client and patient I take care of - whether in the hospital setting or private practice it is this- the care the I would provide to my own children / mom. I expected nothing else from a provider and challenge the trainees I train to treat those they encounter as family members they love who may not be able to advocate for themselves. To meet with empathy, love, compassion and kindness. That’s the impact I am trying to leave. Today is pregnancy loss awareness day and I am remembering my two precious babies I never got to hold, never got to hear their beautiful heartbeats. I know their Memaw is rocking them in heaven until I get there and that gives me peace. It’s okay to speak about the children you’ve lost Mama. They are as much a part of you as the heart that beats inside your chest. Thinking of the many mothers remembering this day full of so many emotions. I am right here with you. I am 1 in 4 🫶. Please share this with a mama it may encourage today ✨ #PregnancyLoss #Miscarriage #NormalizeAdvocating #Lactation #AngelBaby by @supportedlatch

You Matter Mama 🫶 ✨
Your health matters Mama ✨

You pour constant energy into others.

Breastfeeding taps mothers mentally, physically, and emotionally.

It provides unmatched protection for both mom and babies but it is not the finish line for preventative care.

Yes, you prevent your risk for breast cancer many times over by breastfeeding but it isn’t the ultimate protection.

My mother breastfed me and my three siblings, she sacrificed countless hours caring for and nourishing us. But she also put herself and her needs on the back burner - like so many of us mothers do , in a sense ingrained in us to be selfless. But it is not selfish to prioritize your health or your care mama.

I lost my mom nearly 7 years ago after she courageously battled a 10 year journey with breast cancer (Diagnosed at 43).
She did all the right things to prevent this disease but sometimes I wonder- if she had gotten just one mammogram at the recommended age of 40 would I still have my mom? I am NOT questioning Gods plan or HER love for us- I just wish she would have had the chance.
If you knew my mom she was selfless to a fault- always putting others needs before her own.
She thought she was okay because she breastfed, 4 children, countless hours, months - years of her life spent protecting and nourishing us while protecting her body.
Most moms would be protected by this level of breastfeeding.
But breastfeeding while incontestably beneficial and preventative is not the end of caring for yourself Mama.
Initial screening age for Breast Cancer is 40 and if you have any close familial history it is 10 years PRIOR to their diagnosis date (I.e. I was recommended to start getting tested at 33) (continued in comments) #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancerprevention #preventativecare #breastfeeding by @supportedlatch
