A note on the sort of comments you get if you wear something a tad unusual (even in London where nobody ever seems shocked). 👀

I was wearing these tartan print tights the other day and someone asked me if I was Scottish… well, I do have a distant family connection to Scotland, but no, I was just trying to keep my legs warm. Was this a serious comment, or little dig that I was inappropriately dressed?

Anyway, I absolutely adore this shell edged peacock chair at Wright Brothers in Battersea, where the shellfish is pretty good too.. 👏🏻 some of which no doubt comes from Scotland?!

Sequinology - no @magazine_fan, I did not make up this word:-) it was @richardsorger.❣️

This small but intriguing exhibition - just one room @fashiontextilemuseum curated by Sorger and @amydelahayecurator - spans metal ‘spangles’ from the 16th century to sustainable versions from the modern day. 👀

Recycled plastic and plant-based materials have recently been used to create sequins, and Sorger also uses their cut off waste to create sculptural clothing. His (2021) eclipse dress is shown here, along with a 2019 crochet blanket top and trousers by @ashish actually made using 72 colours of sequin - the top alone taking more than 300 hours to complete. The first image is a 2026 design by @rachel_clowes of the Sustainable Sequin Company especially for the display, using recycled plastic sequins. 👏🏻

Not something I would normally do, but I recently found myself at a grouse shoot in Northumbria.. the only person who wasn’t wearing green.👀

I have an ancient green Barbour somewhere, but couldn’t find it, so I decided to get a new coat for the occasion. In these photos I am wearing Barbour International’s Molina showerproof jacket, along with Ganni x Hunter leopard print wellies. It was pretty cold up on the moors, so my faux fur hat came in handy, though I’m not sure the style was entirely appropriate? 🙀

And should I have been wearing green to blend in with the scenery?

PS We stayed at Knarsdale Hall which was super cosy and beautifully appointed… and were served oysters and champagne for elevenses 🥂by the talented chef from @kirkstyle_inn_sportsmans_rest. What more could a girl ask for?

Singing in the rain…

I may have been inappropriately dressed in my leopard print flip-flops and off-the-shoulder sun dress, but at least I had an umbrella. ☔️

I still can’t believe it actually rained in Malta. 🇲🇹Though this was actually a welcome respite from the overpowering heat.

I’m sure you don’t want to be bombarded with my sightseeing snaps, but a few carefully chosen curiosities may creep into my stories.. . 👀

Can’t wait to read my copy of Alexander Ballinger’s book on Phyllis Dalton: A Career in Costume.

Dalton designed the costumes for so many great films including David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia. 👏🏻

I was privileged to attend an event with the author this morning - in conversation with none other than Rita Tushingham. 👑

Here are a few photos and a scene-setting video clip from the event. See stories to hear the video..

This enormous book is full of photographs, many seen for the first time here. It’s the perfect gift for fashion historians, costume design students and professionals - and anyone interested in fashion and film. 👀

The most brilliantly bonkers display of creativity in town… Andrew Logan’s Alternative Miss World.🌍

For this 16th show, the theme was Gaia. As Andrew said, Mother Nature was “dripping a bit”, but the rain didn’t dampen our spirits. ☔️

It was lovely to see so many fabulous costumes and friendly faces, including radiantly blue @maurvalance, glamazon @daniellismore, and my fearsomely horned future dentist:-) Loved @sophiecochevelou ‘s floral incarnation. And spectacular performances by all participants. Bravo! 👏🏻

Thanks ChatGPT for my vintage 1980s makeover. ❣️

Not so much alter-ego, as I remain a firm fitness fanatic. Still dancing decades after leotards and leg warmers… and hopefully for many more years to come.

Not entirely sure about the pink and purple colour combo. 👀
