Self presentation in itself is unreal. Dame Imfala is unreal. They let me warp palpable reality and live through the process of embodying different personalities using fashion as a form of performance. Dame Imfala makes me feel limitless and liberated; it only felt befitting to memorialise my short journey in drag so far to remind myself of the ambiguous possibilities of the art form, with the help of my best Judy @vantagold

With its vast universe and various characters, a Tarot Deck felt like the perfect representation of my drag, as they both symbolise an altered state of consciousness.

Off The Wall | Fashion Unframed Ed.I

APRE inaugurates 'Fashion Unframed', a new curatorial series exploring fashion as a contemporary artistic practice.

The first edition presents Ura Maku, founded by Manjushree Saikia, whose practice is rooted in the indigenous silk traditions of Assam.

Working with hand-spun Eri, Muga, and Mulberry silk, natural dyes, and time -honoured techniques, Ura Maku brings together craft, material knowledge, and cultural continuity.

Tilted 'Unbecoming' the evening unfolds through four live acts that trace the shifting landscapes of identity, performed by Nihar & Niraj (The Tatted Twins), Sukanya Boruah, Endo Mrinal, and Sushiru (Dame Imfala).

What does it say about the state of the world when we still have to protest just to exist? Just to BE. To ask for dignity, safety, recognition of our humanity.

Today wasn’t just a protest. It was a reminder that our lives are still being debated in rooms we are not in.

But it was also a reminder that we are here. We are loud. We are not going anywhere.

Our existence is not a policy discussion.
