The final body stands, The process is done.

What began as accident has been reconstructed into spectacle, the final illusion of life after loss.

At this stage, death has been absorbed Into the language of design. The skin remains, emptied, refilled, arranged to appear whole. Like taxidermy, Display disguises absence as endurance. It suggests life where there is none.

The question that comes from this is “why do we aestheticise death?”
The answer is ritual. Display mirrors the rituals of taxidermy and preservation, the human attempt to make permanence out of loss. It examines how we dress death, clean it, decorate it, ans stage it, turning the grotesque into something digestible. What was once raw and organic becomes immaculate, controlled and Devine.

The drag body here is curcial. It exists in the tension between real and performed, alive yet constructed, authentic through exaggeration. In this final stage, drag becomes the medium through which the dead is reborn.
Through drag, the projects mediation on artfifice finds its human echo, a living illusion.

The garment is monumental, a golden claok, heavy and reflective, swallowing light, built to overwhelm the frame. At its centre 6 golden chains connecting one arm to another, spanning the body in a semicircle. A choreography of resurrection. Each chain marks one of the seven stages : Death, Disgust, Decay, Dissection, Deformity, Reclamation and Display being the body itself, a full cycle completes.
The white wings rise from behind the cloak, fragile yet deliberate. They do not suggest purity, but transcendence, the kind that comes from acceptance, not salvation. The rhinestone crown, almost sacred, gives the relic of control.

In Roadkill, the final scene serves as both conclusion and critique.
The earlier stages, biological and chaotic have let to surface perfect for viewing.
An illusion of preservation where death becomes art.

The project ends here,
But the display stays.

WHEN THE RUNWAY BECAME A STORY

For its first fashion presentation, @cord.in chose not to simply present clothes. It built a world around them.

On October 6, at Delhi’s Kamani Auditorium, The Clouds Beneath Us unfolded as a fashion-theatre production, following a young girl through a world of characters, forests, marketplaces and impossible places. Models became part of the performance, moving through the story rather than simply walking a runway.

The clothes carried the same sense of imagination. Relaxed, largely unisex silhouettes met painterly prints, checks, florals, hand-smocking, appliqué, embroidery and layered styling. There was ease in the clothes, but enough unexpected detail to keep the eye moving.

At the heart of it was Elsewhere, CORD’s Festive FW ’26 collection, drawing from folklore, mythical beings and childhood imagination. The collection also brought artist Sai Pradhan’s ( @sai_pradhan_art ) work into the picture, with two pieces from her With Regard to Myths series translated into the “Sai” print.

What made the evening feel particularly CORD was that the theatricality didn’t seem added on for effect. It felt like an extension of a visual world the label has been building for years.

This time, that world stepped off the page and onto the stage.
