I am an oil painter currently obsessed with my pets

I paint their day-to-day lives

I draw studies first to figure things out

I am so excited and appreciative to be a featured artist in issue 57 of Create! Magazine. Go and get a copy (print or digital) and check out all the amazing artists curated by Tanner Steslow and Max Berman of Square One Gallery. I am honored to be included in this collection. I have watched this magazine for many years and am so thrilled to be a part of it. Thank you! Thank you! Link below shows the featured artists.

Click on my name and see my current body of work along with the studio where it all happens. It’s a little rough being in the middle of a remodel, more like camping than glamping, but the light is good and I’m going to make art no matter what!

More sketching. Life studies, value studies, compositions and ideas. I will be so ready when my studio is done. It will be a paint-fest and I cannot wait! In the meantime I am working on the serious and necessary non art side with gallery submissions, social media review and further mentorships. Happy Monday!

Drawing dump! I love drawing from life, and I have sketched my hands seemingly a thousand times over the years. But this last one - when did I get sooooo old?!?!? Still the best exercise for my technical training. Next is #drawinghive from last night with @visualartspassage. I missed sitting in with @cassandralkim and everyone, so I am not sure which movie reference this is from, but I do enjoy this weekly treat of surprise inspiration. Next are two Hazel sketches for future paintings - so be on the lookout for them! I’ve been busy at the ole drawing board percolating ideas while the excitement of drywalling is taking place in the studio. Happy Friday !!

Happy Monday! Cat Chaos is for sale! Free shipping in USA. Message me for details.
I will feature pieces as they are available. I am building out the shop on my website and you can always message me when you see a painting you love.
While I am working hard to find a gallery, I am also working on improving my studio space. As you can see, I have the basics, good natural light, an easel and a table, but I really need some walls and paint to move in and make it a permanent space.
Cat Chaos is free shipping in USA this week.

Here is the latest study. Painting is on a short hiatus as my studio gets drywalled. Procreate over my original sketch, plus additional inspiration from another sketch, constellation, and two of my muses. I kept thinking about duality and opposites; large and small, light and dark, male and female. Alive and gone. This reality and … what other? Old inspirations crept into this one, and I am pleased. As I continue working to find a gallery, I am doing all the non art things right now, even though they scare me, but I still need to make art.

And I have been thinking about adding sales and/or a substack to my website. What do you think?

Wrapping up my latest pieces as I anticipate some renno work for the studio space in the coming weeks. I will still be able to draw and post, but paintings will be on hold for a week or two. In the meantime, here is “I Can’t Sleep”. Buster with a few of his cats, who can sleep anywhere, anytime. This is available as soon as it is dried and varnished. Message me if you are interested. I can hold it for you.

Two works in progress I’ve been painting in tandem, and enjoying the influence they are having on each other. Also, my value sketches. I feel like I am painting if that makes any sense, and not just filling in color. Anyway, my favorite part of painting is the beginning. May the beginning of your week be the best!

Monday is here again and I am sharing some #drawinghive sketches from the last couple weeks. Since my painting focus is domestic animals, making an experimental portrait or two each week with the @visualartspassage is great in many ways. Different materials, a safe place for play and experimenting, and a connection to a supportive arts community. I have found it to be a healthy outlet to round out my skills. Feeling grateful. And enjoying the memories from revisiting these movies.
