From the streets to the front page, The New Yorker: From Cover to Cover celebrates the power of illustration to capture the cultural and political moments that shape our world. From the cover honoring George Floyd to a scene on the New York City subway and Amy Sherald’s distinctive portraiture, the magazine’s covers offer a visual record of our times.

Join us at Rizzoli Bookstore for SVA Presents: Tiny Table Talk, featuring legendary cartoonist Françoise Mouly in conversation with David Remnick, with an introduction by Riccardo Vecchio, for an evening exploring the art of the cover and the enduring impact of visual storytelling.

CASA RECOMMENDS: Another one to catch before it closes tomorrow: “Building Books. Corraini Edizioni: Children, Art, Design, and Everything Else” at @svanyc ✏️📚

Casa friend and illustrator Emiliano Ponzi @emilianoponzi @salotto.nyc told us not to miss this one. Corraini is Emiliano’s Italian publisher, so of course we had to go!

So many great books and printed pieces from @corrainiedizioni, but we especially loved the wall of Un Sedicesimo, the experimental magazine conceived by @pietrocorraini in 2007.

Every issue is just 16 pages, handed over to a different artist, illustrator or designer to do whatever they want with it. No set theme, no standard layout. Just 16 pages to play with.

Geniale. 🇮🇹❤️

We're pleased to host “Building Books. Corraini Edizioni: Children, Art, Design, and Everything” Else,” an exhibition of the Italian publishing house’s illustrated projects, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery. 📚

Open through Monday, September 28, this exhibition is presented with @svamfaillustration in partnership with the publisher @corrainiedizioni. From a plethora of browsable printed media to a real Riso machine in the gallery, installations, and video, the exhibition demonstrates the creativity and breadth of Corraini Edizioni’s collaboration-driven publications. 📖

This September, our New York adventure also takes us to Rizzoli Bookstore.
 A whole window is dedicated to Corraini, with Più e Meno by Bruno Munari and Giovanni Belgrano taking centre stage: 72 transparent cards, endless combinations, and a different story every time you start playing.
 Inside the bookstore, Scalina, the foldable display designed by Paolo Ulian, hosts a selection of Corraini books to browse, discover and take home.
 And there’s one more connection: Rizzoli is also the bookseller for Building Books, our exhibition currently on view at the School of Visual Arts.
 So, if you happen to be wandering around New York this September, keep an eye out. You might run into Corraini more than once.

We are thrilled to welcome Anagh Banerjee to the staff of the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program. A graduate of the program, Anagh returns as our much needed part time Studio Assistant. Anagh is a visual artist, originally from Bombay, India and currently based in Brooklyn. He graduated from the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program at SVA in 2018. His practice is rooted in printmaking with a particular focus on woodcuts. His work has been featured in major publications like The New Yorker, The New York Times, Penguin Random House, and the Folio Society. His work has also been showcased at venues such as the Brooklyn Public Library, the Evanston Art Center in Illinois, and SVA. Anagh continues to work on a deeply personal project about the Partition of the Indian subcontinent, which began as his MFA thesis. This ongoing series of woodblock prints documents first-hand accounts of the Partition, blending history and personal storytelling. #sva #svanyc #svanycalumni #mfaillustrationasvisualessaysva #art by @svamfaillustration

@svamfaillustration gave Bernardo and me the opportunity to collaborate on the MFA Thesis Show poster 26’ !
❤️❤️❤️❤️
The poster was a culmination of Bernardo fantastic bold shapes and Manu’s elements & type !

It was sooo fun working on this with @bernardobagulho !

Thankyou @riccardovecchio70 & @kimablondi for pairing two very different visual styles and aesthetics! The difference in approaches made it all the more of a creative challenge which both of us thoroughly enjoyed!

Our process included ideating over ping pong! 🏓

Over 80 SVA community members have been honored in this year’s @3x3mag International Illustration Annual, with Best of Show awarded to Wenjia Wang (BFA 2018 Illustration) and Carol Jiang (BFA 2025 Illustration).

As the first publication dedicated entirely to showcasing contemporary illustration, 3x3 draws thousands of entries each year from illustrators, art directors, and students around the world, with work judged across categories spanning commercial, editorial, publishing, institutional, and personal practices. Selected winners will be featured in the 3x3 Annual print and digital editions and showcased in the online gallery.
