Botswana! 🇧🇼

When asked which safari animal I related to the most, I said the lion. I’ve always thought lions were so majestic and regal, so seeing them in their natural habitat was a true joy and an experience I’ll forever treasure (on my way home I watched the Lion King…Lion king supremacy!)

I have so many videos to share, but I had to include these frames of the lions in this slideshow because they captivated me in a different way.

When I think of a lion pride, a few things come to mind:

Resilient. Lion hunts are often unsuccessful, but they don’t give up. They keep trying until they succeed.

Strong, but in a quiet….and sometimes surprisingly cute way.

Family-oriented. We saw lion brothers, multiple prides, and even a couple of lovebirds. There was something about watching those family dynamics that really resonated with me.

And while lions can absolutely be vicious, nature requires it for survival. Natural selection does not play 😂

Majestic, resilient, strong, and deeply connected to their pride. I think that’s why they left such an impression on me. 🦁

Oh my these babies were full. They had completed a hunt and we saw one of the lioness finishing off the kill before they all went to go chill in this bush.

It’s not everyday when you almost witness a woman’s head be torn off…p.s. she survived.

You can see that this was quite a young pride. The male lions had not even fully grown their mane.

This was so cute to me. Gave very much Nala and Simba but also in like a really not so cartoonish realistic way.

Big papas... I loved our guide. His name was Peace. Sometimes at night when I can’t sleep I just go back and listen to him narrate our game drives. A game drive is when you are out on safari driving around looking for animals. It’s an exhilarating experience and you almost start to crave it. Theres definitely some sort of dopamine spike about rolling up…not so randomly (I do believe we manifested all the wild life we saw) but randomly on a lion pride.

The staff @mungaplains was amazing, I cannot lie!!! The people in Botswana were amazing in general - but baby I was not ready for what was in store for me…cold nights. Ice ice baby.
