๐Ÿšจ THE FINAL FIVE HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. ๐Ÿšจ

The submissions are in.
The deliberating is done.
And five cocktails have officially survived the cut for Rum Overboard 2.0. ๐Ÿน

Their identities have been revealed.

Their recipes? Still under lock and key. ๐Ÿ”

But at the Annapolis Sailboat Show, those recipes come out of hiding and things get a little... rummy. ๐Ÿ˜

Our very own @seapeopleapp mixologist Logan Rowell will be behind the bar mixing all five finalists while our previously apprehended judges take on the grueling responsibility of...

Drink rum. Pass judgment. Crown a champion. ๐Ÿ†

And because apparently this crew needed one MORE person with questionable judgment...

We have a surprise addition to the judging table. ๐Ÿ‘€

Russia may have put the kibosh on Matt Rutherfordโ€™s planned Northern Sea Route passage, but that means heโ€™ll be back in Annapolis in time for the show.

So naturally, David gave him another mission.

Drink rum and judge people. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Matt Rutherford of @oceanresearchprojectofficial will join @captainboomies, @laurenlanders, Aiyana of @pirateprincesschronicles and Brandon & Amber of @_everydaysaturday as the Final Five go glass-to-glass for the title of...

๐Ÿ† 2026 RUM OVERBOARD CHAMPION

But here's where YOU come in.

Once the judges crown the winner, we're making a big batch of the CHAMPION cocktail and handing out samples to the crowd! ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ”ฅ

Yep. You get to see if the judges actually know what they're talking about. ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ“Yacht Basin โ€ข Party Central
๐Ÿ“… Saturday, October 17
โฐ 3:30โ€“4:30 PM

So now thereโ€™s really only one question...

๐Ÿ”ฅ WHOโ€™S COMING TO THE LIVE JUDGING SHENANIGANS?! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Sound off below if youโ€™ll be there. We want to know whoโ€™s joining us for rum, questionable decisions and the crowning of the 2026 Rum Overboard Champion! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿน

And remember... once the winner is crowned, the winning cocktail is coming out for the crowd.

Samples are first come, first served, so get there early, claim your spot and stick around for a taste of the champ.

Be there or be (painfully sober and) square. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We took a trip DownEast! Less people, less towns, less boats, just STUNNING islands and gorgeous views in every direction. Even in the fog, Maine really showed off her natural beauty and incredible ability to grow wild berries! ๐Ÿซ

Top highlight was definitely our beach bonfire with a three course seafood feast! Course one: Our friends on @adventures_of_osprey caught a fresh squid and made calamari. Course two: those same amazing humans caught FOUR mackerel that we wrapped in foil and cooked by the fire. Course three: fresh lobster that we picked up straight from a nearby Lobsterman's boat and grilled over the bonfire coals. What a night! taken in Downeast, Maine by @svsaltyfoxx

Coastal Maine, you have our whole heart. I remember the days spent prior to owning a sailboat, where I would sit in Acadia National Park watching each boat sail past and thinking how magical it must be. Now, living on our boat here, everyday is better than the last.

Last year, our time in Maine was rushed, but the magic we felt forced us to change our plans and head back north for a second season. Looking back, we can't even imagine not spending another season here.

From Casco Bay, to Mid Coast, to Penobscot Bay, to Mount Desert Island, to DownEast, every place has its own allure and holds a special place in our hearts.

Everyday spent in your waters is a dream come true taken in Maine by @svsaltyfoxx

Accidentally stumbled into the largest Keelboat Race Week in Canada, and hopped on a J100 for a few days of racing! Chester Race Week was a blast, full of great people, great sailing, and only one very questionable start line!

Shout-out to Second Shift for taking us on as crew ๐Ÿฅฐ we had the best time sailing with you! Maybe we'll make it back next year for round 2!

The BLOG IS BACK! If you were following along last summer, you might already know that Tom keeps a blog about the highs and lows of life on Salty Foxx. We took a break to fully enjoy our first few months of the summer sailing season, but now we're back and ready to share our stories with you!

Our most recent blog recaps everything that has happened since we purchased Salty Foxx in Oct 2024. It's a great way to catch up on where we went last year, and the places we have visited this summer!

Dance parties. Night watches. Calm seas and scary storms. Sunsets over sparkling blue water. A sky full of shooting stars. Bikini weather and full winter gear. Laughter and cocktails and ramen noodle dinners. Canada to the Caribbean. 5,000 nautical miles sailed.

For any sailor, I think your first 5k nm feels like quite an accomplishment. You've passed the point of feeling like a novice, but you know there are still so many things to learn about and experience on the water. At this point in my sailing life, I've seen all sorts of weather. From incredibly scary storms to completely calm seas, I've sailed or motored or just floated through it all. I've been offshore and up bays, in busy fishing harbors and remote, off-grid anchorages. Through all the highs and the lows, this sailing journey has been a dream come true.

Throughout it all, I've been with people that I can count on and trust. I've been on sailboats that could weather any storm. I never could have done this alone, and I'm so grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way. Thanks to Wendy and Mark on @sv_saturdaysun for bringing me along on their run from Virginia -> Bermuda -> Antigua. What an adventure we had out there!

The biggest thank you to Tom for captaining Salty Foxx and never throwing me overboard. We make a great team, and I wouldn't want to sail my next 5k nm with anyone else! Love you ๐Ÿ˜˜ by @svsaltyfoxx

Maine, USA -> Nova Scotia, Canada

35 hours. 178 nautical miles.

Wow! What a passage! It started off at 0500 with what felt like literal thousands of mosquitoes swarming the cockpit. The first 2 hours were spent motoring through the fog and dodging lobster pots.

As soon as the waves began to show evidence of wind, the spinnaker went up and we kept it up for the next 11 hours! As darkness fell, we dropped the spin and worked our way through the infamous southern Nova Scotia currents.

Luckily (okay, maybe skillfully) we timed the currents just right! So instead of having 4 knots in our face, we had 3 knots behind us and we raced around the southern tip of Nova Scotia.

As we made our turn into Shelburne harbor, the strongest winds of the whole journey hit us and all of a sudden we had 25 knots at 30 degrees off the nose. After fighting our way to Shelburne, we made a flying landing into a sliver of a dock space and checked into Canada! What a way to be welcomed to Salty's (and Tots') first foreign country. Time for some rum and some rest. taken in Nova Scotia, Canada by @svsaltyfoxx

1 year ago today, Abby, Tots, and I set out on the adventure of a lifetime onboard our sailboat. In the past year, we have sailed thousands of nautical miles, visited countless remote islands, seen the most incredible sunrises & sunsets, hunkered down away from hurricanes, and had just the times of our lives. Here is to many more years sailing the 7 seas!
