Last night I received the most incredible last minute side quest yet! Yesterday I received a call from Ars Poetica asking if I would want to vendor in Sacramento at The Dresden Dolls Show. I immediately said yes and made the drive (thankfully from Walnut Creek instead of Visalia!) The poetry written already made the trip well worth it; but exchanging stories with the staff and fans, hearing all these lived moments, and connecting with my new friend Brianna was what the soul truly needed. In Sacramento, there's still gold in these waters if you look hard enough. Thank you a dozen times over to Brianna, who accidentally but intentionally matched outfits with me! Thank you to Amanda, Brian, and the whole crew behind the Dresden Dolls for welcoming us to your show and building a community with the art you have created! 🍁🇨🇦 Lodge of Liberation 2026 🇨🇦🍁 What a special timeline of healing to have enjoyed, experienced, protected, and participated in. I am profoundly blown away by the blessings that this medicine and this community provides. The prayer is growing and we are all part of it. I am grateful to our team, the participants, the land and all of the animals that showed up to support us. So many cat guardians hehe 😸❤️ To all of our Black Condors, thank you for continuing to trust us with your precious life. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have been invited to Canada to pray and gather our ancestors in ceremony to work alongside each other. I am personally honored and so blessed to receive the medicine that is you and offer the medicine that is me in sacred space. It is especially special for me to be able to share all of the medicine work I cultivated in Peru during my studies with my teachers to share in ceremony for the first time. Camino de vida 🍶🌿 This is my beautiful life. Thank you to my teachers Yoxan Manuela and Yoxan Robertina, my mentors, my spiritual community, my family, and all the friends I’ve made along the way since I began this path. Big love to everybody who takes care of me and holds me down while I’m deep in the work. Thank you to everyone I have ever shared space in my entire existence for each moment of my journey has brought me here. Wow, my second samá completed. It was so special, so difficult, yet so rewarding. Grateful for all the memories shared and for the opportunity to learn, listen and sing with this incredible Indigenous community, the Shipibo-Konibo. Looking forward to sharing all this medicina in Canada later this month at Black Condor Tribe’s last retreat for the calendar year. ~~~~❤️ Beloved Community ❤️~~~~ •4th Annual Roots of Renewal• Grateful to be part of such important work. Grateful to learn, in sacred reciprocity and with integrity. Grateful to be in community with wisdom keepers. Grateful to grow in my own medicine and have the opportunity to share it more deeply this year. So much heartfelt appreciation for our facilitators, the support team, and our participants. Giving thanks to Mestre Irineu, the Daime, and Temple of the Rising Sun. Thank you Adorable and Luna, beautiful reflections of sisterhood, for inspiring me as a medicine woman. Thank you Gabriel for continuing to be a pillar in ceremony and champion of Black people. Thank you Ant and Irmão Tonai for your support and service this weekend. I love how we stand together as a unit, put our heads down, and do the work. I am grateful to also have y’all’s friendship beyond ceremony. Life is truly richer with the medicine of this powerful community in my day to day life. With that said, there is always so much to reflect on after retreat. The main thing I would like to share is wow, look at how much we have all grown in these last 4 years since we started coming together. ~Celebrating 35 years of life today! 🌳💚~ Thank you to my Shipibo brother Alex @niweart23 for such a vibrant and radiant painting to honor my relationship with my master plant and to reflect my plant medicine journey. He divinely channels the medicine and was such a joy to work with. Alex is extremely caring, communicative and honorable in his work. I hope anyone who is interested in his artwork please reach out to peruse his available paintings or commission him directly. He is looking forward to working with new clients and bringing your vision to life 🍶🌿 Thank you to all who have reached out to me in celebration! I am so thankful for your energy, support, and kindness. Appreciate and honor my parents for all of their guidance and all of the sacrifices they have made to help me endure to this point in life thus far. So much deep rooted love and respect to my loved ones and friends for cheering me on and helping me walk deeper into my medicine. Gratitude to my teachers, mentors, peers in this path and plant allies for all that you have taught and given me through your care and service. I am honored to have been recognized for my service at Black Condor Tribe as a community member and Guardian alongside other dedicated community members and my fellow Guardians. •-Día de los Muertos/All Saints Day 2025-• •-💐🕯️✨-• Ten thousand thank you’s to my parents and my best friend @alreiki000 for allowing me to facilitate this sacred journey with our ancestors guided by the beautiful medicine of the cacao tree 🌳☕️🍫 I was able to hold space and share all that I’ve learned since studying with all of the teachers I have encountered on my journey into plant medicine. The Guardian in me is deepening and growing. My father told me he especially enjoyed the shamanic journey I took them on through my drum. Thank you for the encouragement, the stories, sharing and wonderful work that we embarked on. •~🌀~• Musings after a spiritual bath 💐🍵 The true ritual is Life itself. All the hours become holy if we render them through an attitude of sanctified actions. All moments are sanctified if we live them intensely in the fullness of the here and now. May the suffering souls who yearn for liberation liberate themselves. May the sick receive comfort, the lost be found, the spiteful soften their hearts, the mourners be consoled, the thirsty by satiated, the hungry be fed, and the naked be clothed. Awaken in our hearts the capacity and ability to help nourish ourselves so we may help nourish others. Today I honor the cycle of life, death, life. I embark in the medicinal revolution that the mystery of Creation and Destruction brings, and that the support of the natural world brings. I walk with Noya Rao 🌳. She leads me to the sublime portals of eternal wisdom. •••Hi there wide world of people who have lived the whole expanse of their lives to get to this moment, who have wants and needs, fears and dreams, and lives and memories just like me. I understand we are all more than just profile pics and likes. There’s a whole universe in our thumbs that comes together when we type things on our phones. •••Speaking of technology, Facebook memories has a way of reminding you that life isn’t just for living, sometimes it’s for remembering. Here is a memory of a poetry reading I was invited to read at when I was in graduate school. It was at The Battery🔋, a very exclusive club in San Francisco and they made broadsides of one of my poems which a few people bought. I was at a very interesting juncture in my life. This was a little over 2 weeks before I got into an Uber that was rear ended and had to undergo physical therapy. This version of me had no idea that after such a wonderful high I’d experience such a shock and be in such pain trying to navigate life. It’s also funny how chronic pain makes you more honest. You don’t have space to lie. It takes too much energy and you only have so much. No longer was I willing to pretend about anything that wasn’t serving me. All in all, this is a happy story. Yes, I lost friends and experienced heartbreaking feelings that made my life so raw yet so real yet it was what I had the honor of living through. Life is fragile and precious but it must be lived. I am grateful I was able to make a full recovery. •••Thank you to all who attended and cheered me on in the audience and who made this moment feel so special. It was definitely a nice lil highlight in my poetic career. I am grateful to be able to articulate the vast world of my many inner selves and express that with you all. Sometimes you don’t need a formal occasion to write a poem for someone. You don’t need to be booked for an event or get paid. You don’t need to dress up or leave your house. Sometimes the most opportune moment to write a poem is when it feels right like when the AT&T guy shows up to your house. When he asks what do you do for a living and you tell him then your mom says to tell him about the other thing you do. So you tell him that you write poems for people and in that moment, you realize this is a person who needs a poem. After I wrote it, he told me he loved it and that no one has ever written him a poem before. He also mentions that in his culture, Iraqis love poetry as it’s a time to BS. Fortunately for him, my initials are BS and that is one thing I was born to do. Thanks Haider for sharing your time and energy with us. I know you appreciated being able to not only upgrade our internet, upgrade our phone plans, and get me a brand new iPhone, but also to connect and share a moment of humanity that eventually turned into a poem 📝❤️ taken in Sacramento, California by @swains.brain

•| ⊱✿⊰ |• Roots of Renewal 2025 •| ⊱✿⊰ |• I am a sacred soul that walks with the people. We are rocked by the waves of creation and destruction. The spirit of the sacred vine is transmitted through song, prayer, silence and sensation and to receive the medicine is to be in dialogue. To be medicine is to be in dialogue and I am widening the scope of communication. I believe that part of being a guardian is to uphold the integrity of the space, of the medicine, of the prayers. This is about being in service to the prayer, the plants, and the people. Thank you Black Condor, for allowing me to answer the call to practice upholding these sacred forces for our community for the first time. I hope that everyone felt held, protected, taken care of, respected, and loved so you could focus on your work, your healing work, and I could focus on mine which was personal and collective healing through service. I am grateful to know that this is my life and I look forward to continuing to discover where this medicine takes me and what it wants to teach me and reveal to me. I am just beginning to see how this medicine is working through and as me. What a joy! What grief! What responsibility! What sacrifice! What strength! I embrace it all and become renewed in the process, strengthened and refortified to stand on my two feet to endure it all. Thank you to my fellow guardians for your support. It is truly an honor to be connected to you all in this way. It could only and ever be a team effort. Thank you Adorable, Gabrielle and Luna. I am ever so blessed to receive the wisdom and guidance of your collective experiences. Looking forward to continue learning in Peru later this fall. I am walking my walk step by step.
