We are looking for a new second guitar player! If you shred and you have been waiting to join an active recording/ touring band that plays regularly this is your chance! We are opening up auditions to anyone who may be interested. This is a really big deal for us and not a decision we intend to make lightly. If we're not already in close contact, drop a comment or shoot us an email with a video of you playing one of our songs (we have a full playthrough if you need). Here's what we're looking for:

1. Someone who is easy to work with and passionate about this music as much as we are.
2. Available to practice once a week in north Jersey or at least every other week depending on how far you are.
3. Be able to learn and do justice to Adam's parts before getting in a room with us. We obviously understand we are not going to get a one to one but we would like to remain somewhat consistent on how the songs are played. We are very focused on writing right now and don't have time to stop to relearn the record from the beginning.
4. Confident enough on guitar to write and contribute ideas for new material on the fly as we rehearse it.

BONUS POINTS: Being able to do vocals while playing guitar and having professional gear. by @swamp.foam

"bedrest/bedrot"
encaustic wax and mushrooms on a mattress; canopy, shellac, hot glue

For years I've danced around being labeled an artist who makes work about the body or my personal experience with chronic illness, and yet have still been met with (primarily male) artists/critics/professionals calling my work sad, dark, or heavy. This piece was a long time in the making, and proof that my struggles for health and a fulfilling life are worth making art about, that it was even worth it to make art again at all. What I wanted to express through art making WAS heavy, maybe even a little sad, but still worth talking about and creating literal space for. And that those people with feelings towards the content matter could shut the hell up and listen, while we had a moment to process the fact that a bed and sleep and dreams can be both a safe haven and an escape - and also an unwanted boundary or point of isolation from the outside world that can never be fully crossed for some of us.

Thank you again to @the_prince_imp and Center Stage Gallery for the opportunity to begin creating again, and for such a lovely fugue of a dream-night. Closing party info TBD if you missed our first go-around, and info will be posted below if you still want to contribute to the ~*Dream Archive*~ by @swamp.foam

DREAMSTATE

Jillian Keats is a multi media artist who's exploration of material is grounded in the ritualistic process her installations are made. Brutal and emotional, the tableaus she creates interrogate chronic pain and mortality in a quiet voice of sympathy and understanding.

Keats debuts her new installation "Bedrest/Bedrot" at DREAMSTATE in just one week. Come to Center Stage Gallery, 108 Bloomfield Ave, August 1st 6-11pm to be one of the first to see it! by @swamp.foam

Hi friends - on July 20 myself and most of my studio were laid off to make way for AI. I'm taking this time to refresh, regroup, and look back on everything I learned and all the wonderful people I've met over the last 5 years. But I'm not out of the game quite yet! Still very open to creative positions of all kinds, freelance, contract, part or full time. If you know of anyone who might want to collaborate PLEASE feel free to share this! by @swamp.foam

Happy cosmic birthday to my gram Lillian. I put your Betty Boop sweatshirt on this morning without even thinking about it - we've always been a little psychically linked like that. Grief is a many-headed hydra, some days you are fighting it and other days you are simply coexisting, but it never really goes away. Especially when you lose someone from dementia and were mourning them long before they were physically gone. But today, I choose to celebrate the things about you that made me proud to be your grandkid:

-She lived in the converted carriage house behind my childhood home, often with one of my aunts or uncles renting the apartment downstairs. It was always a village with an open door policy.
-Lillian was a seamstress who made us Halloween costumes, dresses for dances, and my bridesmaid dress for my mom's wedding.
-During the civil rights movement in our hometown of Lakewood, her home was a "safe house" to get some water or a bite to eat in between protests.
-Her uncle was a mobster in Hells Kitchen and his wife was the bookie, and growing up in a family like that in post Depression New York meant she was the one who taught me to always stand up for myself. The kids in Hells Kitchen used to yell COPS EAT SH!T every time a squad car drove by. Intergenerational ACAB ftw.
-She had five kids from four men, two of which she never married, several of which she was involved with at the same time. The lady got what she wanted and did what she had to to give her kids a better life than she had.
-She always had a single beer and cigarette on Christmas.
-She was absolutely "gifted" and would talk about seeing ghosts of indigenous people in the woods, or deceased family members in the driveway.
-The last year of her life, all she wanted to watch was Misery, Dolores Claiborne, and Murder She Wrote on repeat.
-She remembered who I was until the very end; even if she didn't quite remember how we were related, her face would light up when I walked in the room. We'd just sit there quietly together like we always had, no need for big words or expressions.
-One of the last things she said to us was "You're all full of sh💩t..." And I mean, she wasn't wrong lol. by @swamp.foam

Once, in a fit of stir-crazy 2021 pandemic madness, I answered a post on FACEBOOK of all places from @everyonefuckinghatesjackcarino, looking for musicians. Like most of the best things in life, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, and it changed everything.

Since then, the four of us have worked endlessly to put together this album in exactly the vision we saw for it, no compromises, no giving up, no matter the time and effort. "Hearts Never Tire" is the perfect title for this endeavor - we have all lived entire lifetimes between the conception of this band and today, we've all scraped by and pulled it together, and we've always decided to do this straight from the heart, and for the sake of making something worthwhile in an otherwise exhausting world.

I'm so dang proud to be making music with these talented, sweet people and will never be able to thank em enough. Thank you as well to @luke_carino19 for being the most solid 'co-bassist' who allowed me vital rest and recovery time when I needed it most. And a heartfelt thank you to @fuzzrecords and @thechainworld and everyone who has shown support along the way. I haven't been calling it "the little album that could" for nothing.

And if you live in one of these cities, I hope to see ya this spring; we're coming in hot. by @swamp.foam

If I could describe this year in a few words, they would be: transformative, chaotic, difficult, and enlightening.

A year ago today I underwent laparoscopic surgery to diagnose and treat a chronic condition called endometriosis. My surgeon found endometrial tissue wrapped around my sciatic nerve and ureters, fusing them to the inside of my pelvic wall. It was like a veil had been lifted on a lifetime of pain and discomfort that was only getting worse with time, and I was finally given permission to live my life fully.

If you asked me a year ago, I probably would not have thought I'd still be playing music, climbing mountains, or able to work a full time job. A year ago, I was researching mobility aids, fighting for work accommodations, and couldn't even eat a full meal without getting nauseous. Bed-bound for several days a month, full of constant brain fog, extreme bladder urgency, belly swollen up like a balloon, unable to maintain relationships or my own mental health. You get it, you've heard me go on about it at this point. The pain was consuming my life and eating away who I was at my core.

I'm still not at 100% health and am still constantly unpacking the trauma of being medically gaslit for most of my life, as well as giving myself permission to be gentle and soft in a world that expects people with chronic conditions to perform capitalism just as thoroughly as a healthy body (not that any of us should have to do this at all). Periods are still not a happy time for me and I really believe that is all just a marketing myth. Also, surgery is not the end all, be all for us. Until funding is in place to research the causes and an actual cure for conditions like mine, we will still be fighting.

To those of you who stuck with me and offered what you were able, I will forever be grateful. To those of you who bowed out when things got tough, I thank you for leaving space for growth. I will be here on this healing journey the rest of my life, and I'm just happy to be able to say that and mean it. by @swamp.foam
