Take a little kismet, a second chance, some forced proximity, and two people who have history steeped in heartbreak, and the result is an amazing read that was so much fun to listen to and not put down. The Challenge performed in duet narration by Desiree Ketchum and Connor Crais was one of those easy listens that sucks you right in and keeps you hooked until the end. I loved both their performances and the love story between Evan and Chloe. Connor was perfect as reserved and reluctant Evan and Desiree was magical as Chloe and Evan’s daughter. This single dad, enemies to friends to lovers, roommates, second chance romance is the perfect read to sit back and enjoy all the small town goodness.

Their story began years ago when Evan came to live with Chloe’s family, but when Chloe’s crush on Evan resulted in her heart being broken, she left him and the small town behind. Now years later she’s back to look after her mother and discovers that he’s living in the house she was told she could rent. With nowhere else to go, Evan reluctantly agrees to let her stay, but their history makes the situation anything but cozy. I adored how they were put in each other’s space once again which forced them to not only untangle the past, but also forced them to slowly let their walls down. I was sold right from the start that these two needed to work things out and I enjoyed every minute of the process right to the moment declarations were made. The Challenge is everything you look for in a small town, second chance. It was filled with charm, easily likeable characters, a complicated history, a touch of realistic not communicating, and some forced proximity to get them started toward their HEA. by @sweetreadswithmere

A super fun and spooky novella from Holly June Smith? Yes Please!! I was so excited to listen to Scary in Love and couldn’t wait to get my hands (and ears) on this audiobook. Jenna and Mason were perfect for one another in so many ways, and setting the story in a historical home turned haunted house for the season was a brilliant setting for these two spooky enthusiasts. I immediately fell in love with the characters. They are charmingly awkward and real, while also being uniquely themselves. He’s a haunted house actor and she loves all things scary. And let’s just say their chemistry and compatibility is off the charts. When the lights went off and Mason set up a haunt just for Jenna, things took a spicy turn that was a wild ride to the end of this novella.

This short and steamy Halloween novella is performed in duet narration by Evelyn Rose and James Joseph, who seemed like they had as much fun performing their characters as I did listening. They embellished the story perfectly and made this an amazing afternoon listen that I simply couldn’t put down. I really hope this turns into a series because if so, count me in! by @sweetreadswithmere

I can say enough about how much I loved this book. Right from the start, I adored both Xander and Ivy whose story I’ve been so excited to read since we first met each of them in Pretty Little Scars. I admired how hard working and sweet Ivy is even though her mother treats her terribly. She deserves a break which comes along when Xander decides he wants to rehab his knee injury at home and Ivy just so happens to be a PT with athlete experience. There’s delicious tension between them from the moment Ivy walks into his home, and their chemistry builds from there. Xander is the ultimate cinnamon roll hero who sees what Ivy tries to hide. I adored how he took care of her as she helped him work to get back on the ice. This small town, pro athlete x physical therapist, forced proximity, friends to lovers romance has a protective hero who falls first and a strong heroine who captivates him immediately.

In audio, Liam Cortright and Savannah Thomas were absolutely amazing together. Their performances were exactly how I pictured Xander and Ivy, and in full cast duet narration this story is an absolute treat. I couldn’t stop listening to this story and cozied up with the ebook before bed staying way past my bedtime. Their story has so many fantastic layers that keep the story moving forward and surprises along the way. This story is light on the angst but with depth, passion, steam, two easy to love characters, and an amazing love story. I was absolutely committed to their HEA and the ending was so satisfying. Kristen is one of my go to authors and once again, she gave readers a reason to fall in love all over again. by @sweetreadswithmere

Years ago, I dove into the Priest series and was equally shocked and captivated by this family of deeply spiritual and broken men. I couldn’t put Tyler’s story down and continued the rest of the series. I still had no idea what I was in for with Ryan Bell in Devil and what a journey this read was. Ryan is a completely morally gray character with dark desires and no desire to curb them. When his obsession turns to his innocent art teacher, he winds up destroying her life. When she disappears, his obsession demands he find her. But she remains lost to him until a statue of Lucifer shows up and leads him straight to her. He proposes an arrangement that could change the course of her life in this dark, morally gray, second chance romance between an obsessed hero and the broken woman he has to make his.

This story was both expected and completely unexpected. I knew it would push boundaries but was not expecting the level of devotion and thoughtfulness of Ryan toward Birdie. He takes, but he subtly gives as well. This story is one that will challenge you in its depravities, but also will touch your heart. Birdie is easy to love and Ryan grows on you like a beautiful fungus. Jacob Morgan and Megan Wicks were perfect choices to perform Ryan and Birdie. And in duet narration, you can feel the emotion they both dedicated to their performances. This was a listen I had to do in pieces, but what a journey it was. by @sweetreadswithmere

Forever After Fall was another amazing read and the start of a promising new series. I adored The Quiet Horsemen series and was so excited to jump back into this morally gray world. Anson and Bristol were the perfect not-so-forbidden romance that hit just right. It’s steamy, a touch angsty, and has just the right amount of suspense for a delicious finisher. I ate their story up and wanted even more when I was done - I enjoyed this quickish read so much. I know I’ll be not-so-patiently waiting for the next in the series. This forced proximity, sister’s widow, slightly forbidden (even though everyone in town thought they should be together), grumpy-sunshine, romance has a touch of suspense, a non-stop plot, and a yummy Halloween light connection for extra fun.

I swear, I love every character that I meet named Anson (IYKYK). He’s grumpy, but a really good guy who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and only softens for the one woman he can’t stop thinking about. I’m a sucker every time. I also love a strong heroine who is outspoken and stands on her own two feet. Bristol has been a lovable side character who I was eager to find her long awaited HEA, and I only fell in love more with her more. I adored their story and loved how everything about it was just right. Just long enough, just steamy enough, just suspenseful enough. It was like the perfect snack when you just want to enjoy something delicious. by @sweetreadswithmere

I love a workplace romance, and Power had so much tension, chemistry, and plot twists that I couldn’t put the audiobook down. Connor Crais and Savannah Peachwood were spectacular together in duet narration, and really made this listen so enjoyable. They ratcheted up all the emotions, steam, and drama of this story. I was sold right from the start. Scarlett, after having a horrible interview with a “grabby hands” superior, goes to the bar with her friend and they write a ridiculous revenge list. Through some happenstance, she ends up handing this list to a charming man she meets who adds to the list. She and Jace also spend the night together. The next week, she finds out Jace is now the new CEO of her company and from here the story and their forbidden relationship takes off.

This one night stand, workplace romance has a strong heroine, a protective CEO, and a complicated revenge plot that the two MCs find themselves tangled up in. Jace wants nothing more than to find out who had the audacity to touch a woman at his company and Scarlett carefully plays the complicated corporate game she finds herself in. The love story between them is super sweet, and steamy, but the corporate side of things gets messy and at one point, goes a little off the rails. Overall, I enjoyed this read a lot and the narration was spectacular. This has left me super curious about the rest of the series which is all on my TBR. by @sweetreadswithmere

A cozy, steamy, and utterly charming read – The Fall Affair was a love letter to love set in Tuscany and made me fondly remember falling in love while studying abroad. While that didn’t amount to anything more than a fling, The Fall Affair gives that love story an HEA with two fantastically different characters, a grandmother who meddles from the afterlife, and all the charm of a small town romance set in Italy. It answers the question, what if this could be my life. Allegra is a NYC lawyer who never takes time to live her life. Matteo is an Italian man whose ex-wife left him swearing off love. From the moment they meet, it’s time to cozy up for an amazing journey where they both discover that taking a chance on love really is worth it. This friends to lovers, small town, neighbors romance is sweet, steamy, and the perfect read to cozy up with and take a mini-vacation.

In audio, Matteo and Allegra are performed by Connor Crais and Andi Arndt and made getting lost in this read so easy. Connor perfectly embodied Matteo’s Italian charm and Andi toed the line perfectly between Allegra’s determination while also being a fish out of water. The star of the show was Allegra’s grandmother who decides Italy is exactly where Allegra needs to be. I soaked up all the romance, small town and family shenanigans, and fell in love right along with them. This was a fantastically light and fun read. by @sweetreadswithmere
