✨ ** Portsmouth showed up and SHOWED OUT today!** ✨

The energy at Sam Welty’s mural reveal was unmatched! 🙌 We had an incredible turnout to celebrate this massive new piece of street art history.

The absolute highlights:
🏛️ The Mayor of Portsmouth stopped by to support our thriving local arts scene!
⚓ A Magical Surprise: Commodore Richard Dale and his wife made a stunning guest appearance straight out of the history books! 🎭✨

A huge shoutout to everyone who made today unforgettable! #PortsmouthVA #SamWelty #MuralReveal #RichardDale #PublicArt by @sweltyart

We all know George Washington gets the history book hype, but Portsmouth native Richard Dale was out here playing bumper cars with British warships. 🫨
Watch local artist @samwelty bringing this absolute legend to life on our walls! Dale was captured, escaped a British prison disguised as an officer, and straight-up stole their ships. Talk about a hometown hero.
We love being a hub for local history, incredible art, and good vibes. Come by, grab a drink, and check out the finished masterpiece in person! 📸👇

There’s nothing better than bringing vibrant, local art to the 757 community—especially right down here by the water. Next time you're grabbing tacos or a margarita, make sure to step outside, check it out, and tag @sweltyart in your photos! 🇲🇽🌮
