Spent the afternoon exploring the ViBe Creative District in Virginia Beach and using some of its incredible murals as the backdrop for this portrait session.

Each location brought a completely different mood, from bold graphic artwork to more expressive and editorial compositions. The goal was to let the murals become part of the portrait rather than simply sit behind the subject.

Virginia Beach has an incredible amount of public art packed into this area, and there’s still plenty more to explore.

Swipe through for a few of the finished portraits and a look at some of the murals behind the session.

I don't think I ever posted the final version of this picture. I know I had one early in the process but I'm real happy with this and how it came out had fun with all the details. 12"×16" acrylic on canvas
