Two awards. One extraordinary commitment to regional communities.

Congratulations to @buoyantswimmingandaquatics (SA) on an outstanding achievement at the 2026 SWIM Australia Swim School Awards of Excellence, taking home:
🌟 Regional Swim School of the Year
🌟 Outstanding Community Service Award

Based in Strathalbyn, South Australia, Buoyant Swimming & Aquatics looked beyond their own community after learning about the shortage of swimming lessons in Broken Hill. Within 24 hours of surveying local families, more than 80 families representing over 120 children had registered their interest in learning to swim.

The team responded by partnering with local organisations, national bodies and community stakeholders to deliver the Making Waves in Broken Hill initiative, bringing high-quality swimming and water safety education to one of Australia's most geographically isolated communities. The program was delivered twice during 2026, creating life-changing opportunities for children and families who previously had limited access to lessons.

Congratulations to Kimberley, Tabitha and the entire Buoyant Swimming & Aquatics team. Your commitment to making swimming accessible is inspiring communities across Australia. 💙

This exciting partnership builds upon our almost 20-year commitment to supporting the NBCF through our iconic Swim in Pink range. Together with NBCF, our goal is to get as many swimmers in the water as possible, raising vital funds for research toward their vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

Throughout the month of November, we're challenging swimmers across Australia to swim 9km (or more!).

Why 9km? Every single kilometer represents one of the 9 Australians who lose their life to breast cancer each day.

The future of our industry is in great hands.

Congratulations to Sherri-Rose Hatten from @helensswimschool (QLD), recipient of the 2026 Emerging Swim Teacher Award.

In less than 18 months, Sherri has shown an outstanding commitment to becoming the very best educator she can be. After completing both her @swimaustralia_ Teacher and Babies & Toddlers accreditations in 2025, she has continued to expand her knowledge and teaching skills across every stage of aquatic learning.

Recognising the diverse needs of the children in her classes, Sherri proactively completed additional training in neurodiversity and participated in an Aquatic Mentors workshop focused on supporting children with challenging behaviours. She also embraces social media as a professional learning tool, bringing fresh ideas and innovative teaching strategies from educators around the world into her lessons.

Congratulations, Sherri-Rose, on this fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing where your teaching journey takes you next! 👏

Congratulations to Tammy Daprossi-Weatherby from @bexleyaquatic (NSW), recipient of the 2026 Leadership in Aquatics Award.

For more than 21 years, Tammy has been a driving force in the Australian aquatic industry, leading with innovation, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to water safety, workforce development and community impact.

Her leadership has helped:
💙 Grow Learn to Swim programs to more than 2,150 students
💙 Develop and support a team of 80 staff members
💙 Deliver innovative water safety initiatives reaching more than 15,000 students through schools and community programs.

Beyond operational success, Tammy has championed free community education initiatives and school-based programs, helping more children and families gain the life-saving skills and confidence they need in and around the water.
