Swingtronic presented:

A Benefit for Byron Thompson featuring The Grand Slam Sextet!

Many of you know our dear friend Byron and how he has bravely battled a failing heart for years. On December 16th, 2023 Byron was hospitalized and has endured an extended stay in critical care trying to qualify to receive a new heart. Thankfully, on February 21st, 2024, Byron received a life-saving heart transplant. While this is fantastic news, the journey isn't over. To ensure a smooth recovery, regain his independence, and get back out on the dancefloor, Byron needed our help!

We enjoyed this very special evening of great music by The Grand Slam Sextet, Vintage vinyl swing tunes by Professor Watson, raffle prizes and incredible libations, and all proceeds of the event went to Byron!

There were raffle prizes that benefited Byron from many incredible sponsors including a full weekend pass to Camp Hollywood, tickets to Knotts Berry Farm, a tattoo from Zoey Taylor, merch and music from some of our favorite local swing bands including Marquis & The Rhythm Howlers, Lil' Mo and the Dynaflos, Janet Klein, dance classes with L.A. Jitterbug Swing Dance Academy, martial arts lessons with Conrad Cayman, tickets to Cicada Club, and much more!

Thank you to musician Maureen Davis for helping organize the evening and for organizing the raffle!

And thank you to everyone who donated their time and talent for the evening!

you can still donate by searching GoFundMe for Byron Thompson.

Get well soon, Byron!

Swingtronic! presents
The Barrelhouse Wailers Jazz Band
6/3/23
8pm

Resident DJ
@professrwatson - spinning vintage vinyl swing dance tunes, neo retro and electro swing into the early hours!

Beginning Swing Dance lesson by Professor Watson and Chelsea Beach at 8:15pm included with entry

3 sets of live music by @barrelhousewailers - Hailing from Ventura, CA The Barrelhouse Wailers serve up their own take on Prohibition Era hot jazz and blues music of the 1920’s and 1930’s. They perform on only acoustic instruments to retain the authentic sound of that period. The Wailers bring their passion and energy to the style, making it as fresh today as it was when it was the newest, hottest dance music 100 years ago! They have been influenced by a cocktail of artists, past and present, like Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Tuba Skinny, Sydney Bichet, Billie Holiday as well as Traditional New Orleans Jazz, Classic Blues, Country Blues and Big Band sounds.

Enjoy gourmet bites from @HouseDatGrill on the patio all night long!
