Salon d’artistes is a format developed to strengthen the visibility and distribution of new works from Switzerland’s contemporary performing arts scene and to foster exchange between artists and performing arts professionals.

Through short presentations, selected artists introduce their artistic practice as well as current and upcoming projects to programmers and other professionals from Switzerland and abroad. The format provides a space for artistic work to be contextualised, discussed and connected with potential future partners. By creating opportunities for direct exchange, Salon d’artistes supports professional networking, facilitates access to new contexts and contributes to strengthening longer-term relationships within the performing arts sector.

This year, the format took place in the context of Zürcher Theater Spektakel and La Bâtie–Festival de Genève, bringing together artists and professionals from different linguistic regions and international networks.

The two editions were organised by Pro Helvetia in collaboration with @theaterspektakel and @labatie. Salon d’artistes forms part of our efforts to support national and international exchange, mobility and visibility within the Swiss performing arts scene.

Annual programmes
Emerging performing artists / part two ✨

Three professional development programmes for emerging dance practitioners are taking place in Vienna and Hamburg this July and August.

Each summer, the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna hosts the ATLAS and danceWEB programmes, offering participants an immersive experience within one of Europe’s leading international dance festivals. Over the course of five weeks, participants take part in workshops spanning a wide range of movement and choreographic practices, attend performances, and exchange ideas with peers and mentors from around the world.

This year, Bianca Berger and Declan Whitaker participated in the ATLAS programme, while Emeric Rabot has been selected for danceWEB. Meanwhile, Ivana Balabanova is taking part in the residency programme at K3 | Centre for Choreography in Hamburg. She is only the second choreographer from Switzerland to be selected for this prestigious initiative.

Together with seven fellow choreographers from around the world, she is spending four weeks in Hamburg developing her artistic practice in K3’s studios. The programme also gives participants access to the International Summer Festival at Kampnagel, opportunities to connect with the local dance community through workshops and networking events, and a platform to present their work publicly at the end of the residency.

Focus Suisse at Scenica Festival @scenicafestival

From 22 to 31 May, the multidisciplinary Scenica Festival took place in Vittoria, Sicily. With the support of Pro Helvetia, this year’s programme hosted a Swiss Circus Focus.

Five Swiss companies presented six productions across twelve performances, offering Italian audiences and professionals a broad view of contemporary circus from Switzerland: Les Diptik @ciedyptik, Wakouwa Teatro, Théâtre Circulaire @theatrecirculaire, Jessica Arpin @jessicaarpin, and Cie Fada @ciefada

For Paola Berton, responsible for distribution in Italy for Théâtre Circulaire, one of the most interesting aspects was “the resonance the Focus had.” The initiative enabled programmers and professionals to discover performances and companies still little present in Italian circuits, “broadening perspectives towards new artistic proposals.”

Céline Rey, actress and director of Les Diptik, also highlighted how the Focus opened up new touring perspectives in Italy and helped lay the foundations for an Italian network for the company.

For more information on other Swiss Focuses and open funding measures, visit our website via link in bio.

The four-day Producer’s Academy in Brussels has come to an end.

A co-learning programme by @cifasbxl and @kunstenfestivaldesarts, the Academy brought together 18 producers from around the world to reflect, co-learn, connect and question the practice of the producer.

Among them was Caroline Froelich from @moin_moin_prod, supported by Pro Helvetia. She shared and expanded her expertise in international production work in the performing arts.

As she puts it:
“ I’ve gained lots of fresh ideas, found plenty of inspiration and made valuable connections. I hope these will lead to fruitful collaborations and a broad, supportive network of producers.”

The next Academy will take place in May 2027. The Open Call will be published in December on our website and on the partner site: www.cifas.be The image shows a large indoor venue with a glass ceiling, brick walls, and a raised stage area where several people are seated and conversing. by @swissperformingarts

As part of Pro Helvetia’s Swiss Connection UK programme, two residencies will take place in the United Kingdom in 2026: at Battersea Arts Centre in London and Fierce Festival in Birmingham.
We are delighted to announce the artists selected for the UK residencies.

In June, @pietbaumgartner and @es_Reichert will be hosted by @batterseaartscentre , where they will explore the possibility of an urban intervention with a machine-based performance, while seeking new connections within the human and non-human performing arts scene.

In October, Alina Arshi and @kaikikks will be hosted by @fiercefestival, where they plan to move through the festival as an evolving, collaborative unit, using drawing and writing as trace-leaving tools to observe and reflect on live performance.

The residencies enable participants to expand their networks, become familiar with institutions in a British context, and reflect on their artistic practice with the support of local arts and theatre practitioners.
