My oldest childhood friend had her first baby back in October & even though I wasn’t there to welcome him into the world, I have a small place in his room! 😘 Being a long distance friend has its challenges but I loved being able to surprise her with a couple handmade keepsakes for her shower!

I’ve never done a banner but drew inspiration from her Pinterest board - she did such a beautiful job on Atlas’ nursery! 💙

My last project made in the sunshine state for a friend’s new baby-girl! 🎀💛

Because of the dimensions and that I was running out of my Aida cloth, I chose to do this project outside of a hoop. I was afraid tension would be extremely inconsistent but I think it turned out beautifully!

stitched homes pt. 5 🏡

Another house rendition this time for my oldest sister! I keep saying each new piece is my favorite but this one really does take the cake!
• first time I tried to keep all measurements proportionate/to-scale
• creating the brick dimension was a guess-as-we-go and it worked out beautifully IMO and it’s a blend of 6 different colors!
• I’m still working on my consistency within my satin stitches so they don’t have as much slack after pressing

stitched homes pt.4 - my mom’s house in Scottsville, Ky ♥️

She built this home in 2011 and it was very easy to capture the beauty of this property in cross stitch form!
- I love her darker brick tones and thought I replicated it nicely with this blend of 4 DMC colors
- I had to make sure to add a pop of red in her flower pots bc she is known for her landscaping and often has something bright on her front porch! She also always has a beautiful and lush, green yard that I had to make sure include.
- she put her pool in a few years ago and I love how it peek-a-boos around the corner!

The challenges on this project were depth perception but think her house can be seen in my interpretation!

stitched homes pt. 3 🏡❤️🪡

next up is my recreation of our first house and the home we’ve lived in for the last 3 years+!

Time to complete: 12-15 hours | our house has a fairly simple exterior with minimal texture variation making this project feel like it flew by tbh (especially with doing a satin stitch for the majority)

My favorite detail is how I executed the doorway/entrance to try and create some depth perception. I’m also happy I added white back-stitching around the door windows to make them stand out a little more!

Something I would potentially do differently is widen my pattern altogether to achieve a little more accuracy in the size BUT if you notice that would also mean increasing my frame size - increasing the amount of labor time. taken in Ocala, Florida by @syd.made.it

A continuation of threaded architecture 🧵🏢

I made this to honor the first apartment my husband and I ever shared together!

I really wanted to go for a sketch/blueprint vibe and chose to fill in the portion that was our unit! I designed this pattern on an angle similar to the photo but retrospectively, I would have made it face-front instead bc it was a challenge keeping proportions and you can see some wonkiness (but alas, it’s MY wonkiness lol) This will serve as a reminder of where we started 💕

Bc I was only adding full detail to one apartment, this entire project took me 1 day to complete with true time input being somewhere around 6-8 hours from design-start to framing-finish

1) I’m in love with this oval hoop that this is going to live in! 2) I think my favorite detail is my palm tree! Granted, this is the 2nd version of it bc my first rendition got chuckled to death by my husband hahaha Embroidery with flowers behind taken in Tampa Florida by @syd.made.it

a house is a home when it’s stitched together with love 💗

this is my most intricate needlework project to-date! Carrying over from the stitch people portraits, I wanted to challenge myself in replicating this beautiful home of my brother and his family!

This took more intention and forward planning when plotting the stitches to create the different textures and proportions. I also tried blending my embroidery floss to achieve this custom brick facing. I used 1 strand from 4 different colors to give a slightly more raised look and have more depth like true brick.

One of my favorite steps is choosing what color thread for each section. The #FlossCross website has corresponding DMC colors but can fall flat or different on screen vs. in-person. I went back and forth trying to decide if their house was gray leaning blue, gray leaning white, or gray leaning beige. Embroidery of house portrait taken in Connecticut by @syd.made.it

family tree I did as a Christmas present to my mom this year! I made this tree a little extra special by adding in a few others that hold a special place in her heart! 💕

I formatted this on @canva, printed it onto water soluble stabilizer paper, adhered it to my fabric and started stitching away. This is also the same fabric from which I made mom’s Christmas gift from last year (a personalized throw pillow).

One challenge I ran into was I wanted to do an even more extended tree including my mom’s nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles and in-laws but I couldn’t find the right layout - all arrangements I tried seem to detract from her and my dad as the focal couple of this piece. taken in Kentucky by @syd.made.it

I’ve graduated from making stitch people to also making stitch dogs!!!

I searched for so many dog inspo cross stitches and could not find an Australian shepherd so I designed this from scratch based off a Bernese mountain dog pattern I found on @pinterest
- some details added to Sadie (🐶) are: her paws )specifically the one that’s different than the others), her white chest hair placement, her amber colored eyes, the brown and white patches around her face, and her “nubby” tail lol taken in Charleston, South Carolina by @syd.made.it
