At least Bengalis without an agenda can accept that Bangladesh is a multilingual country. Syloti, Sitainge and Rongfuri are independent languages and not dialects of Bengali, as correctly reported in this video. #Syloti #Sylheti #Chittagonian #Rangpur by @syloti

How long can the decent Sylotis of Bangladesh remain patriotic to a system which is sucking the lifeblood out of the region? With no return investment, is this not criminality? The roads and infrastructure being built are those to primarily move resources (petrol, cement, stones, gas) OUT of Sylot and INTO Bengal. Why does this smell very similar to how the British behaved when they introduced railways to India? 🤔

Babrul Hussain Babul is a legend who sought to emancipate Sylhet many years ago. Unfortunately, just like today, Sylotis were engaged in Bengoli politics and lost sight of their own region and thus did not listen to his call. Here Babrul Hussain shab readdresses our concerns once again. The question is, who will listen? by @syloti

Bengoli settlers arrived in Lakkatura Tea garden during British rule from Barisal (Borishal). Since then the landscape has been transformed due to the destruction of hills. The hills are being cut to make way for shacks. There is no regulatory body overseeing this.

This was forwarded to us by someone who recalled that this specific area has transformed drastically from just a year ago. The same is happening across west Sylhet of the Greater Sylhet region.

Video is from January 2024. by @syloti

Oh the hypocrisy...
People are seeing it in front of their eyes...
Sylhetis are waking up too...
Sylheti will be a recognised language and people group, it's just a matter of time.

Breaking News: A Bengoli student from Dhaka, Yousuf Omar Salekin, is a student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology who insulted the Sylheti language, the Sylheti identity and the Sylheti women amongst many other things. Bengoli abadis have gained courage to insult Sylhetis openly. In the previous instance, an abadi openly mocked the Sylheti language and was then forgiven following an apology. This man has done the same, but the Sylhetis have a limit to forgiveness. The audacity is what's most striking. To live and study in Sylhet and make such comments 🤡. Where are the men of Sylhet? He literally wished death and destruction on our people and motherland. by @syloti

We want state recognition of Sylheti language. We want to make it clear that we are proud citizens of Bangladesh, we are Bangladeshis, we are Sylheti ethnic group. We are only asking for the right to our mother tongue. But for those who are spreading misinformation by calling our peaceful movement as Indian or Israeli propaganda, we have this video for you,#ꠍꠤꠟꠐꠤ by @syloti

The myth of Bengali being “the world’s sweetest language” was never a UNESCO declaration.

For years, the claim that UNESCO ranked Bengali as the world’s sweetest or most melodious language has been circulated as fact. But there is no such UNESCO ranking or study.

Beyond correcting the record, it is important to understand the impact of this myth. Claims of linguistic superiority can reinforce Bengali chauvinism, contributing to the dismissal or belittling of other languages such as Sylheti and Chittagonian by portraying them as merely “dialects” or inferior forms of speech. Unfortunately, Bengali chauvanists feel the need for a fabricated UNESCO title due to their insecurities.

Facts matter. Linguistic diversity matters. No language is inherently superior to another.

Uploading this for our brother @vipersporttv to see.
You can cozy up to Bongos and mislabel yourself to appease them and take flights from London to Jakarta to represent them, yet... They will never embrace nor respect us as Sylhetis for what we've done for 🇧🇩. I'm calling a spade a spade here. No holding back. Those of you who have been with us over the years know this. Bongos see Sylhetis as a free marketing and media pass. They get recognition of their existence through our efforts. But they will never appreciate it. Never. The fact 68 Bongos (up to this point) liked the "Sylhet is Bangladesh's israel😍" comment is very telling. All on a content creator's page who is going out of his way to represent you. Ungrateful kanglu bastards. by @syloti

WARNING ⚠️ THIS POST WILL SERIOUSLY RAGE THE INSECURE BONGOS AND BONGO LOVERS!

Sylhet is carrying beyond its weight, imagine what happens if it becomes autonomous or independent?

Bangladesh's Sylhet Division is the country's 3rd-largest economy, sitting on its only oil field and a huge share of its natural gas reserves — all while housing 11 million people (of whom around 4 million are ethnic Bengolis who arrived here after 1971.

Now let's run the hypothetical: an independent or autonomous Sylhet. Strip out the Bengoli population and abadi labor count towards it, and the per-capita numbers shift fast. Keep the gas revenue home instead of funneling it into the national budget, and reinvestment in Sylhet itself compounds. We're talking more money for investment in Sylhet within it's first year of autonomy/independence, than the last 55 years of Bangladeshi investment.

The Bangladeshi taka has a well-documented reputation for weakness and volatility. A new Sylheti currency wouldn't be a loss, it'd be a canvas. Sylheti heritage and language have long lived in the shadow of Bongo's Bangla; a Sylhet that mints its own money is a Sylhet that can put the Sylheti script on it. Since 1971, Bangladesh has never formally recognized the Sylheti people or our language, autonomy/independence would finally change that.

National defense from scratch sounds daunting until you remember modern warfare isn't about tank counts anymore, it's about drones, and a small, well-equipped force can punch far above its population size. It's also about the foreign relationships you maintain.
No inherited trade deals also means no inherited constraints, Sylhet negotiating fresh agreements built around its own interests, with the one resource the rest of Bangladesh can't do without as leverage on port access and trade routes.

Where Dhaka's diplomatic footprint has stayed often strained on the world stage, a Sylhet starting fresh has room to build its own, backed by a professional diaspora already deeply networked in London and New York, ready to bring capital and expertise home. A "new Sylhet" would also attract the Sylhetis from Barak Valley and Hojai...
