Campout Spotlight: @sylvanimprovement

Some of our members go as far back as elementary school with our good friend Neil @glad_neil . From living together, to recording records and practicing at the legendary Oakdale Tioga House, playing our first shows with our various bands together. Chris even played guitar in @built_like_alaska for several years before Good Luck started. We have all respected and loved his songwriting for as long as he has been doing it. Neil’s new project Sylvan Improvement includes half our band! We are super excited to have them perform on Friday at The Good Luck Campout

“Neil Jackson—founder and singer of the renowned California indie-rock band Built Like Alaska—has launched a new project to bring his prolific catalog of songs to life: Sylvan Improvement. Longtime friends and collaborators Taylor Webster and Chris Doud (both of The Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit), Aaron Burtch (TGLTSO and Grandaddy), and Travis Vick have joined in to help shape the sound. In between the rumblings of trains and loads of laundry, surrounded by animal heads and windchimes, the band recorded and has recently released a five-song EP titled, Gateway Motel. Bringing a rural perspective to sturdy rock songs, Sylvan Improvement’s music evokes images “as warm and rich as the Central Valley sun.”

Don’t miss @sylvanimprovement Friday, 9/26 at The Good Luck Campout! Day passes and camping still available!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the @queenbean_coffeehouse last night for the @offtheairmusic show. @completionsmusic and Lopi @creditelectric were great! Time is valuable and we’re grateful that you chose to spend it with us. Also, I like this picture because it’s kind of like that Bigfoot photo, are we real, do we exist or not? by @sylvanimprovement

OFF THE AIR Presents an evening of live indie music in downtown Modesto. AGAIN.

Friday, August 29th
$15/ADV; $20/Door
@queenbean_coffeehouse

BANDS:
Sylvan Improvement
LoPi
Completions

Who could use a stellar night of IRL music, the really good stuff, right here in Modesto, California?!

You don’t have to drive to the big cities when we have Off The Air right here in our own backyard doing it how we’ve been doin’ it for twenty ding dang good years—

Real party, real people, good old fashioned ooey-gooey indie sleaze all the way, but from a true, noble place that has been there since the BEGINNING. The real deal.

NGL- Off The Air makes people want to stay in Modesto. OTA makes it gosh darned okay to come back home to Modesto. This heart of the Central Valley churns out good music from this weirdly fertile soil. We’ve seen it time and time again.

We are excited to be playing @queenbean_coffeehouse coming up on Friday, August 29th for @offtheairmusic

Also playing will be @completionsmusic, making their homecoming back to Modesto! & Lopi @creditelectric will also be peforming a solo set.

We will either be playing as a 3 piece or a full band. Who knows? Roll of the dice on this one. But one thing FOR SURE is that this will be @frabby ‘s first show playing with us, so don’t miss that!

We are looking forward to performing and seeing the other great music this coming FRIDAY. Come out! Bring your family and friends. Ticket link in bio taken in The Queen Bean Coffee House by @sylvanimprovement
