Congressman Turner was fortunate to have many encounters with our fellow Texan heavyweight champ George Foreman on numerous occasions during his time as Mayor.

Whether it was at a gala, @HCHSA Sport Walk of Fame unveiling and awards event, Grand Marshal of the 2020 MLK Parade in @DowntownHouston, or even at his own church when the 50th anniversary of his historic fight against Joe Fraizer was held, each event was a memorable occasion filled with laughs, friendship, and a chance to connect with his family. taken in Houston, Texas by @sylvesterturner

Today, @tcwwhouston Bingle campus took a moment to pay a small tribute to Congressman Turner who attended church service there regularly.

His normal seat was covered with a @apa1906network stole and a yellow rose.

Staff members attended today’s service in tribute to the congregation and to which the message was “Grappling over Grace”. by @sylvesterturner

On Friday, Congressman Turner was brought home from Washington D.C. to Houston and most importantly his childhood neighborhood of Acres Homes.

@ashleyturnercaptain and @jimmiecapt would like to formally thank the @dulles_airport TSA staff, @united staff, pilots, crews, and operations teams both at IAD and @bushairport, @mwaa_hq Fire and EMS along with @houston_fire for the water salute at takeoff and landing, and the @houstonpolice Honor Guard, and other officers who helped in the transport of the Congressman to the funeral home.

Everyone played an integral part which truly left an impression on Ashley, Jimmie, and staff who accompanied the Congressman back home. by @sylvesterturner
