I'll dance by the pool...
in front of the neighbor girl and her mother
in front of my children (paying me no mind)
and despite the people walking by

How am I holding it all together?
By completely falling apart.

By bursting into laughter, loudly

Letting rage pulse through me
(immediately, flowingly, with presence and breath and curiosity)

By crying when I'm sad and not caring if it makes you uncomfortable

By staying with others' suffering
(even if it hurts)
So you know it's safe to feel it all too

By remembering life is destiny
My birthright
My duty

If i hold it all together by
holding it all in...

I'd burst
explode

Backstage between shows, in line at amusement parks, while the water boils for my tea...i tend to my body as casually as most people yawn. Diving straight into the "pain" is, ironically, exactly what keeps me out of it. Like how shining light into the darkness makes it less scary. by @synchronikkity

This is the only footage I have of myself dancing. It was 2001, a month before 9/11.
I was 19, living on my own, taking 12 units at school, and was the sound engineer for The Improv comedy club.

How lucky are we that we get to be loved by other animals? How they are like both child and parent, receiving us openheartedly and reflecting back to us who we really are, yet seeing us as enough, over and over.
Temporarily-earthbound angels, ushering us through life.
