Story time… ✨11.5 years ago I met Radha after an intro from Eli to launch @dybrkr in DC. It was a fringe idea then, so was sobriety and wellness. But we sold out the first event at my favorite club, then off to the races. A year later Radha went all in and built a team, and after a seminal Burning Man trip, I left DC for a new life in NYC.

I spent the next 10 years giving nights & weekends to this beautiful community project. The most fulfilling work of my life. I know because it (almost) never felt like work. More like service, an art project, or some prosocial revolution masking as a business.

We made a million people smile. 1,000+ events. Countless sunrises in the most iconic spaces. The memory slideshow brings easy tears… scenes from the long story arcs of each event: community organizing, post-game brunches, the exhaustion, the hilarity of dramas and resolutions — somehow it always worked out for us. Radha & Eli — I’ll miss finding each other on the dance floor just to say “it’s working” with a wink, knowing we had magic up our sleeves all along. 🪄

The relationships are the greatest gift… the most epic cast of characters across the world: producers, DJs, yogis, venue owners, and performing artists of every type. I’m so grateful for this tapestry of connections — thank you to all who said yes to our gregarious tactics of persuasion, you have a friend in me for life.

No goodbyes, but this summer I transitioned from COO to advisor. It’s an exercise in ego death to walk away after a decade of my life, but I’m grateful for the rebirth, and confident the movement and team have never been stronger. To HQ and to the producers worldwide, I love you and can’t wait to see what you do next. :)

And to Radha & Eli — Thank you for the best years of my life. For the invitation, the collaboration, the family, the partnership, the alchemy. It’s all been once in a lifetime. I’m in awe of the world we built and so grateful to you for carrying the torch forward as loving parents. Words won’t do this justice... Till next time, shine on you crazy diamonds — Better and better, forever and ever.

🎂 Happy 12th birthday Daybreaker familia —

As we step into our 12th year together, our hearts are overflowing. What began as a wild, mischievous idea — what if we woke up and danced instead of numbing ourselves to belong? — has become a global movement, a cultural frequency, a home for hundreds of thousands of souls searching for joy, connection, and aliveness.

Twelve years.

Twelve years of 5 AM alarms, disco balls in backpacks, finding power outlets behind ancient ruins, negotiating with janitors, convincing DJs to play sober at sunrise, crying in bathroom stalls from exhaustion, and then re-emerging moments later because someone grabbed our hand and said, “Daybreaker saved my life.”

As we stand at the threshold of our 13th year — our teenager year! — we want to say from the bottom of our heart: Thank you.

Thank you for giving your mornings, your sweat, your laughter, your costumes, your courage.

Thank you for co-architecting a world where we wake up, not escape.

Thank you for choosing belonging in a time where loneliness has become an epidemic.

Thank you for helping us bring a dream into form — a dream that has grown beyond anything we could have imagined.

The next era of Daybreaker will be our boldest yet.

We are architecting Day Life.

We are building the culture of belonging the world is aching for.

And we are just. getting. started.

What a privilege it is to steward this community with and for you.

We did this with no investors — a movement fueled by you, for you.

Happy holidays, happy birthday to us, we’re officially a teenager — let’s make it to 21, when our baby can keep saying “no” to alcohol even when she’s of age.

Fell in love in the Arctic, with 170 friends, where time stood still, where we were all cracked open, over 10 days and as many lifetimes, all moved beyond words — this final curtain call for Wow It’s Now, the most moving yet, thank you for this experiment in culture making, environmental education, fundraising, deep nature exploration, an art project to inspire, thank you for the trust these past 2 years, from each end of this earth, Antarctica to the Arctic, I am, we are, forever changed.

Leaders of the Sámi tribe indigenous to this region hosted us, after a first meeting in Brooklyn, on the heels of a visit to the UN, @beaskaniillas made this possible with his welcome, and the welcome of @saramariellegaup and @elisaborealis — thank you.

lynnetwist and @sara.vetter, @manariushigua and @belenkeuneka came to represent the Amazon, collectively representing 100+ years of work in service of the Amazon with @pachamamaorg, and together hosted our biggest fundraiser yet for Pachamama, @belongcenter, and the Sámi Council.

Work we love, work for love. They have showed me the meaning of service, thank you.

So grateful for this team, 20+ of us onboard to see this through as gracefully as possible.

One year ago this week! Scenes from Wow It’s Now on the Nile River, a Daybreaker art project and social experiment, a capsule of work for us that we’re closing with a last expedition to the Arctic this summer. Friends fell in love, started businesses, started families, we brought DJs on board we met while dancing in Cairo clubs, raised hundreds of thousands for orgs along the Nile and inaugural funding for Belong Center, picked out every pillow and lantern from Cairo markets and shipped them to our SoHo summer club to bring home some of the magic. ✨

These have been the greatest art projects, most moving, most sleepless, most deep, most bonding… and always on to the next!

Wow. A look back on ten glorious years of sunrise dance, love & mischief.

Thank you @dybrkr fam, artist community, partner community and everyone in between that continue to make this sunrise movement thrive. This is just the beginning! Lezzgo!!

Our togetherness in this next decade will determine our future as a species.

And we’ll keep saying it: dance has always been humanity’s most potent celebratory gathering and healing technology.

Let’s keep investing in collective dance and effervescence and make this wild blink of an eye called life even more magic!

And if you’ve loved our community and the sunrise dance floor, please reshare on your socials too and let’s inspire others to wake up and dance - in every sense of the phrase!

We’re announcing our 2024 // 11th season Jan 15 - with a focus on PEACE 🕊️✌️.

My parents in ‘79 - ‘81, in love for a decade before I was born, photos I’ve never seen, dug out of basement albums after mom sold her 40 year DC home last month.

God bless parents, god knows I tested mine.

Grateful for my breath. Grateful I love to swim.

Taking the plunge this season. Going into holidays without a few loved ones — this time makes loss so poignant.

Surf is rough right now, but still getting up most waves. Pisces through and through, I respect the ocean, she is fucking powerful, has pummeled me enough times lately to know. Breath, swim, ride; often tough but rarely a fight.

I’ve learned my greatest lessons in life and love through this season’s waves. Thank god I love to swim.

It’s FINALLY official!! @dybrkr is going on a 9 city stadium tour with OPRAH, ft. guest appearances from Michelle Obama, the Rock, JLo, and more all thanks to @ww.now 💫

What a true dream come true after 6 years since founding in NYC and 4.5 years on the team, launching @daybreakerdc then joining @love.radha @eliclarkdavis at HQ 3 years ago this month. From first phone call 5 years ago to now, I never could have imagined this trajectory. Bootstrapped, community based, and whisper shared... so honored and humbled by this opportunity.
Thank you to the believers and hardest working team with @ww and @melsafford @amyweinblum and @jennakostelnikutley for making this happen.

What an honor – hosting 500 yogis at sunrise at the @kennedycenter REACH opening Daybreaker.
I’m so floored by this space, by the caliber of the talent and production at opening festival, and by the impact it will have on the arts in this city... Imagine multiple types of venues, dance and music studios, arts classrooms, and a beautiful installation filled public park, all opening at once with 500 free shows over the first 2 weeks.
What an amazing investment of time and energy into DC’s cultural capital. Thank you to the Kennedy Center team for all this work – DC will reap the benefits for generations.
