As per the tradition now, I got to spend the celebration of a new year around the sun in silence, in nature.
 A moment of reflection, rest, inquiry and contemplation. We took a long walk along a river, stopped, walk, stopped, walk… with no plan, no goal. Phone off, away from the constant noise of the world to allow the mind to relax, process, and see, ideally more clearly.   I’m deeply grateful for my beloved, @monicadogra for sharing this moment with me, my family, all my friends and extended community for holding me in their loving thoughts. Thank you for those who got to share a moment the day prior, sharing a delicious feast, chanting, spending a quality moment and your generous gifts.   May the simplest moments of life be the most significant 🙏

New York Family,
We are still humming from the exquisite gathering we shared on a stormy Friday night at Angel Orensanz. Thank you for braving the winds and the rains.

After the storm, be the bird that still sings…

There were unexpected insights this night. There was collective grief. There was elation, purging, alchemizing. New York as an entity is a strong personality. The people who live and create from here, are a powerful and diverse group. This night raised 15,000 dollars for the orphaned children from Binita’s Home in Nepal.

A special thanks to @khalokitchen and @indayallday for providing delicious prasadam for our bellies 🍲 the chai and samosas were delicious! If you haven’t already, go follow them for more in cooking and Ayurveda.

We are currently in the inquiry and deep listening of what wants to be next, as this closes our 1 year in this nonprofit format, and opens up the need for more patronage in order to share in this particular way. We are considering perhaps a weekly New York residency so that this community may practice together and weave more deeply together. Please do contact us if you have ideas and leads, as we have always been a community led effort.

Good morning, DC!

Welcome to a day in the life behind the scenes of Daybreaker (@dybrkr), the sober morning dance party movement in 66 cities across the 🌍.

My name is Timothy Patch 👋 and I’ve been hosting these for all of 11 years in Washington, DC, from the Smithsonian’s to our favorite clubs, and today is back where it all started at my favorite dance floor in the city — @flashclubdc

We’ve got a hundred yogis who woke up early for yoga at the club with @sihnuu__ and a packed house for a dance party from noon to 2 p.m. on the rooftop — just getting started.

Honored to be your host for the day! This is my hometown, born and raised, and it’s my true joy to bring this community together monthly for the past decade.

Up next you’ll see a host of local artists, DJs, live musicians, dancers, and more, a diverse, intergenerational community who come out to dance with no booze, no mean bouncers, no VIP lines and no bottle service, just great music and smiles ☀️🌐😊

1000 Daybreaker events. Let us translate what that actually means:

1000 times someone said, “Wait… this is at WHAT time?”
1000 times we answered, “Yes. Morning. On purpose.”

1000 sunrises.
1000 dance floors built from absolutely nothing.
1000 times we turned a random space into a temporary utopia before 9am.

1000 playlists made.
1000 DJs asking, “Are people… actually going to dance this early?”
1000 DJs leaving like, “Okay wait… that was the best crowd of my life.”

1000 boxes of cables.
1000 moments of “who has the aux???”
1000 near-heart attacks when the sound didn’t work at 5:47am.

1000 group hugs with strangers.
1000 “I came alone but I’m leaving with 12 new friends.”
1000 accidental therapists unlocked on the dance floor.

1000 times someone said, “Wait… no alcohol???”
1000 times they forgot they even asked.

1000 outfits that said “I just rolled out of bed”
and also somehow “I am a mystical forest creature.”

1000 moments where someone cried.
1000 moments where someone healed something they didn’t have words for.
1000 tiny revolutions before breakfast.

And what it actually takes to get there?

10,000 early alarms.
50,000 texts that say “where are you???”
100,000 feet of gaffer tape.
1,000,000 moments of “why are we doing this again?”
followed immediately by
“oh… right. this is why.”

Because somewhere between the bass drop and the sunrise,
between the stranger and the hug,
between the coffee and the dance—

we remembered something ancient:

we’re not meant to do life alone.

1000 dances later…
and honestly?

we’re just getting warmed up. 🔥
