For many years I created under the name tablet+HAAR. It was the home of my prints, textiles and surface pattern collections, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who supported that journey.

Over time though my practice has shifted. Painting has become the place where I feel most at home - where I can explore landscape, weather, the tension between movement and stillness and the quiet feeling of being by the sea in a way I couldn’t before.

So from here, I will be sharing my work simply as Katie Ebben Smith.

This isn’t leaving one thing behind as much as allowing my work to grow into what it has naturally become. You will still recognise the same love of colour, texture and the coastline, but now expressed through original paintings and selected printmaking. Thank you for being with me so far. I am excited to share what comes next. by @tabletandhaar

It’s been a while.

Since I posted, since I drew.
Life got busy on all fronts and there has been a massive lack of headspace - still is.
I’ve felt pretty disenchanted with social media too - still do.

Sometimes you just pause.

So I am maybe starting again.
No big comeback, no promises. Just a good walk, a pencil and a tentative sketch. taken in Crail, Fife by @tabletandhaar

A big thank you to everyone involved in Pittenweem Arts Festival.
To everyone who came along, looked at my work, stopped for a chat, asked questions, shared their thoughts — and especially those who bought something — thank you!

My fellow exhibitors @waynegallowayceramics @angelalearoydjewellery and @sophie__demery for the laughs and general keeping-each-other-going.

And a huge thank you to the festival organisers, most of whom are volunteers. YES VOLUNTEERS - I wish everyone knew and remembered this. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is enormous, and you did a fantastic job. There was so much positive feedback ✨

It was a pleasure to be part of @pittenweemartsfestival Great people, great atmosphere, some very interesting conversations — and probably too many Tunnocks tea cakes and caramel wafers.

Only 3 days to go - Pittenweem Arts Festival continues until Saturday 8th August. If you have had your eye on a painting don’t wait too long.
We are open
10am -5pm daily.
