Mae gofod coll yn arcêdau Caerdydd yn atseinio unwaith eto â cherddoriaeth, perfformiad a gosodwaith.
A lost space within Cardiff’s arcades resonates once more with music, performance and installation.

Mewn partneriaeth â Cardiff Music City Cyngor Caerdydd, mae tactileBOSCH. In partnership with Cardiff Council’s Cardiff Music City, tactileBOSCH invites audiences into one of Cardiffs hidden spaces.
For three days, live art, sound, performance and installation will take over the upper floors of The Morgan Arcade the site of Cardiff’s first public library bringing new activity to a building with a 160-year history.
Through bold and tenacious experimentation, artists will generate a new chapter in the story of the space.

The space has a capacity of 20 audience members at any one time.

To enable more people to experience the performances, a live-stream cinema in a separate room will screen them as they happen. If the performance space is full, you can still join us and watch the live action on screen

Additionally we will hosting SHIFTS Through The Floor broadcasting libe for the three days.

Event bright link coming soon!

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: zack mennell @zackmennell
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
15–17 October 2026
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff

zack mennell is a self-taught artist working across writing, photography, performance, and film. they work with a focus on slowness, improvisation, and material attentiveness, often employing analogue techniques that highlight the temporality and physicality of matter. mennell’s work smears the personal and political across their body; such messy, muck-slathered work is a bit weird, a bit intense, a bit silly. their work can be challenging to the audience, but it’s never about unsettling viewers; it’s a confrontation, but it’s also about finding a moment of connection. Live art is a meeting point. We are creating a community, even if it’s temporary; any work exists only because of these connections. This community means everything; being together is how we go on, it’s a reason to live.

zack has worked with DaDaFest, The Bluecoat, Metal, Future Ritual, Wellcome Collection, Totally Thames Festival, Outside In, British Council, Deptford X, Arts Admin, and Duckie.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: PENNY HALLAS @pennyhallas
UNRULY ELEMENT
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
15–17 October 2026
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff
Installation on display throughout the event.

Unruly Element brings together projection, moving image and equine skeletal remains, linking environmental, psychological and mythical forces through ideas of damage and transformation.

At the heart of ritual, celebration and mourning, fire crosses unpredictable boundaries. It offers the comforts of home and companionship, while also threatening to devour everything in its path.

The work combines photographs Kim Fielding shared in 2013 of the fire that destroyed the Old Laundry, tactileBOSCH’s former home, with footage of fires around Llangatwg, Powys. Referencing the Chinese Year of the Horse, it also draws on the semi-wild ponies that live and die on the mynydd, whose skeletal remains can be found in the grass.

“Horribly, since planning this work in Spring, fires have swept the land.”

Based in Llangatwg, Penny Hallas explores connections between the material world and the hidden crannies of the psyche. Through drawing, video and performance, she traces how agricultural, industrial, ecological and artistic systems emerge, collide and fall apart. Her work has been shown widely across Wales and internationally.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: JS / INSATIABLE WOUND
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
THURSDAY 15th October 2026
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff

Concussive. Repetitive. Safety in futility.

Emerging from the tight-knit South Wales noise scene centred around Shift, JS has been creating and performing noise for nearly a decade.

As Slow Murder, they layer heavily effected, pained vocals with slow, dense synths. As Insatiable Wound, they strip extreme sound back to its most minimal components.

Their latest full-length release, Crooked (Outsider Art, 2026), uses extended passages of high-end feedback to translate internal and external pain into sonic form. This performance continues that approach, using the language and tools of harsh noise to explore the idea of safety in futility.

“Those shrieking moments are so frequent and so unpleasant that I barely had time to catch my breath.”

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: PASCAL-MICHEL DUBOIS
NO PAIN, NO GAIN
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
15–17 October 2026
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff
Sculpture on display throughout the event.

An exercise bench, a chequered tablecloth, a vintage pipe vice cutter and a baguette.

No Pain, No Gain (2003/2026) plays with the familiar proverb and its translation into the artist’s mother tongue: “pain” meaning bread in French.

A sit-up bench covered in red and white vinyl supports a pipe vice cutter, with a baguette clamped through it. Still, in theory, a functional object, this unexpected assemblage invites multiple interpretations, using humour to provoke questions.

Pascal-Michel Dubois is a French multimedia artist who has lived and worked in the UK for over thirty years. He studied at Goldsmiths College, London, and the Lyon School of Fine Arts, graduating with honours in 1990. Following years of exhibiting in the UK and internationally, he moved to rural Wales in 2005, where he continues to develop and exhibit his work.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: WEEKS & WHITFORD @weeks_and_whitford
A DERELICTION
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
Saturday 17 October
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff

Two shrouded bodies, like ghosts in a room being abandoned. A place where an anticipated future failed to materialise.

A Dereliction addresses three miscarriages, grief and the loss of all that might have been: a loss that leaves no body, no grave and no legacy.

Across the room, one body advances, scattering things kept for best as the price of each movement. The other remains fixed, but for the tender offering of petals.

Victorian portraits of nameless children stand in for a family lost through adoption. Suo Gân, the Welsh lullaby, plays through an old radio, its promise of protection addressed to no one. An empty frame marks the point at which both lines end.

Moving between performance, installation and ritual, the work treats domestic objects as relics, bodies as archives, and the traces left behind as offerings to their water babies.

Weeks & Whitford are Rebecca Weeks and Ian Whitford, a London-based duo working together since 2010. Their durational performances bring together evolving installations, sound and live actions shaped by site and audience. Holding their distinct but overlapping experiences together, they make the negotiation and struggle of being in relation visible.

For them, performance is an event shared by everyone in the room, belonging as much to those who watch as to those who perform.

Suo Gân sung by Iona Hannagan Lewis.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: SHUYI GAO @tender_gaoshuyi
FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE
Saturday 17 October
Wanderers’ Library, Morgan Arcade, Cardiff

How can a life be measured? How can emotion be measured: love, tears and the loss of control?

In Measure, Shuyi Gao uses water, cups, falling objects and her body to explore these questions. Across approximately 30 minutes, she attempts to measure space with water, water with the body, and the loss of control through the fall of ordinary objects.

Caught between proving its existence and washing its own traces away, the body becomes both the measure and the thing being measured.

Partly improvised and site-responsive, the performance shifts with each space: its floor, light, distance, edges and audience.

Shuyi Gao (she/her) is a performance artist from China, based in the Midlands, UK. Working through sustained bodily actions, materials and the memory of space, she approaches performance as a vessel of co-presence where presence and absence, life and death, meet. Her practice attends to vulnerability, loss and the unstable conditions of being present.
