An explaination about my process when taking on commissions!

1) Hopefully, this will help people who are interested in acquiring a piece to see what they can expect

And

2) It will help other artists get some ideas on how to take on commissions as well

—

After a client expresses interest in having a piece made, we talk about what they desire in a painting.

We talk about the themes, figures, energies, colors, meaning, and philosophies that are important to them.

The deeper the conversation, the more helpful it is for me, in my search to understand what they are looking for.

I then work in my studio to draw up a few sketches.

Sharing the drawings with the client, we go over what works and doesn’t work, like an investigation to tease out the desires of the patron.

After a few rounds of talks, we approve of a final sketch, that then turns into a finished piece in a couple weeks.

All things are packed and shipped here in Los Angeles.

I find it important to keep the client updated on the process with clear communication,
as they are putting a lot of trust in an artist they’ve often times have never met.

I really appreciate and honor that trust.

The whole process is collaborative and rewarding, for both the client and I!

—

So, if you are interested in purchasing a piece, please message me on here to get started!

We can then take the conversation over to email or phonecall, whichever feels best. by @taelien

A momentary breeze
materializes from nowhere
flutters through the airwaves
momentarily swaying
the hairs on my arm
then dissolves into the ether

the entirety of your life
as a breeze
a soothing balm
on a hot day

Im happy to be chillin at the end of the world with you

Painted this after the fires in Los Angeles burned down our beloved community at Zorthian Ranch.

Decided to post this, seeing the wildfires in Canada, as well as the many man made catastrophes enveloping the planet these days.

Contemplating on how to best live one’s life as the world ends.

Beautiful is the exquisite human predicament to make meaning, poetry, and love at the end of the world as we know it.

Perhaps the tragedy is the very thing that gifts us beauty, so that we may fully appreciate each unreproduceable moment.

Each breath and moment is singular, a river is never exactly the same twice by @taelien

you (yes you!) are zhuang zhou’s endless dream

you are the fluttering butterfly
dreaming that you are a human

you are the human
who will dream of being a butterfly tonight

you are ibn arabi’s vision
you are dostoevsky’s ecstatic seizures
you are the mania of every artist

you are this painting

you are the endless ocean of bliss
