“It’s the new cool, and it can only be understood by experiencing it.”

That’s how one convener put it. We spent months talking to the people who actually built Ibadan’s rave scene quietly, before Lagos noticed, before the brands came sniffing around.

The origin story nobody agrees on. The night everyone knew it changed. The line about Ibadan’s elite that we’re not going to spoil here.

The Last Quiet City is live. 🖤

“What Commercialization does is make sure money isn’t a problem, reach is wider and attention is on the community. However, growth comes at a cost.”

DÚDÚ Sessions returns for its second edition.
An intimate series exploring entertainment, culture and music across African cities.

For EP.002, we head to Ibadan in collaboration with @redlightfashionroom (RLFR), an @artpoolstudios subsidiary that has been building community around electronic music in the city for the past five years.

We’re joined by founder @skeeedoh (Victor Iyaman) & head of operations @0menogor (Omenogor Udome) to discuss their recently concluded Sound Lab Showcase @rlfrsoundlab , an accelerator and development programme for emerging DJs building a creative community in Ibadan, and their vision for the city’s future.

The conversation will be followed by music from Sound Lab alumni, bringing the next generation of Ibadan talent into the spotlight.

DÚDÚ Sessions EP.002
📍 Bower’s Tower, Ibadan
📅 September 19th

Introducing The Reading Room Project: a curatorial practice for archival activation by Omenogor Udome.

The first iteration, Reading New Culture, centers on New Culture Magazine, first published in 1979.

Through collective reading and conversation, the project approaches the archive not as a static historical document, but as a living body of knowledge that continues to shape contemporary thought around culture, identity, architecture, and artistic practice.

Join us as we ask: What becomes possible when we read archives together?

If you missed the MOWAA film screening at new culture studio, no worries — we got you. Here’s a recap of the highlights.

We watched No let them die by Ogochukwu Umeadi and OKPEN-EZE by @omoregieosakpolor which opened the floor to conversations on language preservation, archiving, and the dignity of African spirituality.

From MOWAA team members to archaeology students from UI to creatives across Ibadan, the room had a lot to say, and we tried to capture it as much of it as we could.

It closed the way most good conversations do ; over shared food , and an invite to the new culture archives for anyone who wants to go deeper.

What part of the conversation stood out to you? Let us know in the comment section !🤏🏿

ps : tag anyone you know in frame 🥳
