IB sailing team at @rcycburnham having a fantastic summer day sail along the crouch river. A casual sail turned competitive with racing the LBS and Oxford skippers. Some really good races from us and all great work from the stellar crew Sylvia, Tanvi from LBS, (and Marco coming back sailing after nearly a year after his baby 🍼). Many thanks to @lbssailing for organising.

The one and only photo taken (thank you @⁨~Patrick⁩) from training day at Queen Mary on May 12 - Clemens and I took out a boat each and got some keelboat race practice done ahead of the MBA regattas coming up this year.

Light green hoods are out just after a heavy rain (and some claimed hail) shower! 🌬️🪨☂️

After a total of 19 gruelling races 🤯 and a bit of luck we came in third overall at the British Keelboat League 🥉! Very happy with the result and the great crew work ⛵

Back in June I organised the 2nd edition of the sailing leadership weekend. The 8 of us used 2 keelboats and our sailing skills in a head to head 'experiment', where we tried to validate a management theory that suggests that 'A leader imitating its closest rival is a valuable strategy to stay ahead'.

This meant coming up with reading up a bit of theory from a research paper, some case studies, and designing 4 scenarios in a workshop and testing these out in real life!

We had fun learning how to sail, making new friends, and some friendly competition at the Royal Harwich YC. I'm trying to find new and interesting ways to bring theory to practice via sailing. If anyone has any ideas or would like to collaborate on something similar next year - do let me know!!

Ahoi sailors! Here are some impressions from our Summer Weekend Cruise to Poole Harbour ⛵. We had two lovely days on the water and a good breeze that kept us busy. A nice swim and tasty coastal dinner rounded off a spectacular weekend 🌞.

We will be running a few more events until the end of the season so keep a look out on this page 👀

@pauljanicot and I (@capelectriclime) just completed our World Offshore Sailing and RYA Sea Survival courses at Chieftain Training in Southampton. Both are mandatory requirements for the Fastnet race which we are both doing this year with different teams. This is on top of the 300 qualifying miles we have to complete before July - our first offshore races this season in 2 weeks time! 🤜🤛

Last week the IB Sailing club headed to Athens to WIN Global MBA Trophy 2025!⛵️

The team skippered by Clemens battled through stong gusts, funky wind shifts and Greek ATC strikes to come home with our very first overall regatta win since founding IB Sailing 4 years ago! 💪

Congratulations to the team for this fantastic result and enjoy the gallery of photos from the weekend👏 👏👏

Athens team: Clemens Mieth (MBA 2019), Eiichi Higuchi (MBA 2025), Georgia Motsiou (MSc Finance & Accounting 2022), Georgie Psaltis (MSc Climate Change 2025), Paul Janicot (MSc FinTech 2025), Rohit Ravi (MSc Business Analytics 2024)

I'd say we have a keen and coordinated crew here folks! Photo of the crew from the day sail at Queen Mary Sailing Club on 5 October. Did some basic sailing theory over breakfast, learned how to rig up this boat and tie up to a mooring together, then did some manoeuvres like tacks and gybes and also took turns doing each role on the boat.

Photo 2: Andrew, IB alumn and former sailing instructor, feeling pleased with being back on the water

Photo 3: Skipper @capelectriclime learning how to lead a crew of sailors and helm on Keelboats

Photo 4: Eichii and Andrew rolling up the mainsail before heading back home

Photo 5: Louis looking satisfied with the day's sailing (or the good angle he got with the sunset in this photo - who knows)

Say hello to your newly qualified VFH Radio operators!! Just did a 1 day VFH and GMDSS course in Southampton today and passed the assessment! You can feel more assured that more than one of us can operate the radio on a yacht. 🥳🥳
