“Can I start in the middle? I feel pressure to get every detail right, to give my own account. The news has taken away the human essence in their reporting of my story. I am a statistic, a victory for the police, a summarization of events.”

This week on Frida Says What, I’m telling a story of fear, hope, love and faith.
I was held captive for 5 days, and during that time I came face to face with a truth that is absolute about the human experience: Where there is life, there is hope. And to add, where there is hope there is God.

I cannot even begin to express how lucky I am to have survived such an ordeal, or to even have been loved and trusted so fiercely in my absence.

Coming out solidified things for me. What matters, what to do.
We need to be better. I want to help people get better.

This episode is heavy, and so if you’d like to read the essay I wrote on my experience instead, it’s also titled the same on my publication, All the things I Can’t say on Substack.

I’m so glad to be alive, so glad to get to continue what I started.

I love you guys, hope you have an amazing weekend 🤍

We’ve come to the end of the first season of the pod, and I hope it landed with a bang!

The last episode talked a lot about what it took to get to this point,
Now it’s all about moving forward.

We’ll be back in a month (or 2) and it’s going to be a different experience. I’m not who I was when I started, I’m better (I can only hope) but at the same time I don’t know exactly who I am now or where I’m headed.
It’s a tense time in the becoming of a person, and I think it’s important to document.

This is the heart of the next phase of the show.

Season 2 is going to be intimate and personal—less about definitions, more so about openness and discovery—

Building beliefs.

After paying tribute to all that has made you, where do you stand? What do you do? What do you choose?

Who are you?
What do you claim as yours?

I’m trying to find out.

Will you do the same?

I hope we can do it together.

I love you guys. Thank you for riding w me.
I can’t wait to be back, and I hope it’s with a lot of insight, more community, and a better viewpoint on life in general.

Till the next one,
Love, Frida💕

Hey y’all, we have another ep of the Frida says what pod out and it’s the sisters edition!!!😝😝😝
Was so happy to have @dr_chizzy_ugwuoke on the pod 🥳❤️🫶🏽

Literally trying to find the words that really describe this ep, being fr I wasn’t prepared for how honest and vulnerable we were going to be.

We talked loyalty, attachment styles, marriage fears, and all the ways our past shapes how we love.
She gave a lot, and I love her so much for itttt.

Hope you guys love this ep, listen & tell me in the comments if you relate, if yk the things from your upbringing that have shaped the way you love,

Happy Valentine’s Day in arrears(lmao)

Thank you for listening 🫶 & have a great weekend!!

ITSS #fridafriday again and Odera and I are back with our best conversation yet! 🎉🎉
What are the things you want vs the things you think you should want? How do you ask yourself these questions and answer them honestly? How do you learn to express yourself?
This episode is a very personal conversation and holds a certain emotion for me. Odera led me through this conversation, and listening back it was such a guiding and cherished conversation.
Something new to learn? Start wanting to know things; abt you, abt the world around you— ground yourself in self and world knowledge and get more confidence in your self expression.
I love you guys, love this community!!!! 💕💕💕
Looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming episodes!
Have an amazing weekend my loves💕

New episode!✨

Shame, Shame, Shame…
Shame has been my oldest friend.
When I got the thought to broach this subject for the episode, I was a little scared, a little anxious. Shame is a fundamental feeling, or at least it has been one for me. Knowing what it takes, what it costs to carry, I felt like I knew enough to approach the conversation but I just didn’t know where to start.
I wanted a guest on but I didn’t think i had a right to ask someone to be put in this position (to open themselves up for other people to hear), and I wrote and I wrote, I said my shame out loud, called them one by one, because I knew that to do this, to make an impact, I’d have to show you that facing it and acknowledging it, saying it out loud , will not be the end of your existence, it will not be the end of your social life, it will not kill you and it does not mean that you have to dwell in it forever. I thought you’d need proof so I dug into myself, researched and re learnt everything I knew about shame to make sure that I leave you equipped and informed on how to better deal with your shame, and let it go.

Listen to the ep, talk about it, think about it, talk to me.
Have a great weekend🤍
