what are you glad you started?

macro photography
a new relationship
a creative and fulfilling hobby
setting up a business
travelling alone

learning something you thought it was too late to learn

or simply doing more of the things that make you feel like yourself again

this month’s friday focus is **i’m glad i started**

photographers from around the world have interpreted that idea through their own lives and their own photography

because starting rarely looks impressive

sometimes it’s picking up a camera again
taking the first bad photo
going on that spontaneous trip
trying something you’re not very good at yet

or deciding that being a beginner is better than wondering what might have happened if you hadn’t started

rediscovering photography in midlife taught me something i wish i’d understood much earlier

you don’t need to know where something will lead before you’re allowed to begin

sometimes you just have to start

if you’re rediscovering photography, starting photography later in life or looking for a reason to get creative again, you’re welcome here

want to join the next monthly photo challenge?

dm me **friday focus** and i’ll send you the details

orange was never just a colour

sometimes midlife reinvention begins when you start noticing what still lights you up

this month’s friday focus challenged 25 photographers and me to see the world through a single colour

orange became sunset, warmth, creativity, courage and change

for me, photography therapy started the moment i began paying attention again

if you’re rediscovering your creativity later in life, this community is for you

what in your life glows bright orange?

share your own photo in next month’s Friday Focus

when was the last time you allowed yourself a new beginning?

not the big dramatic kind

the quiet ones
the ones that start with a decision

spring arriving after a long winter

a child changing everything overnight

a new relationship

a career shift you didn’t see coming

or simply picking up a camera for the first time

this week’s friday focus brings together 24 photographers (and me) exploring new beginnings through photography — each photo capturing a moment where something starts shifts or opens up

because new beginnings aren’t rare

they happen every day
every dawn is an opportunity to begin again

for me midlife reinvention didn’t start with a perfect plan

it started with noticing
with choosing to see differently
with carrying a camera
and paying attention to what was already there

and suddenly i’ve started my own company
and i’m my own boss

if you’re looking for photography inspiration, creative photo ideas or a reminder that it’s never too late to start something new, this is where it begins

what’s the new beginning you’re hoping for right now?

#NewBeginningsPhotography #PhotographyOver50 #MidlifeReinvention #PhotographyCommunity #PhotoInspiration A photography collaboration showing visual interpretations of new beginnings including spring scenes, symbolic life changes, light at sunrise, personal transformation and everyday moments, part of a global photography project focused on storytelling, midlife reinvention and creative photography inspiration.

When was the last time an ordinary moment actually stopped you?

Most people scroll past the everyday.

But in photography — and in life — that’s often where everything begins.

This week’s Friday Focus theme is Ordinary Things, and it couldn’t be more connected to my own journey.

When I rediscovered photography in midlife, nothing around me actually changed — but the way I saw things did.

And that’s exactly why I started Friday Focus

To create a space where photographers can share their work, be seen, and grow — without pressure, without perfection, just through noticing.

This is Part One, featuring 13 photographers (and me) capturing ordinary things.

Different places, different lives — same idea: ordinary doesn’t mean insignificant.

If you have read this far, thanks from the bottom of my heart

Now tell me in the comments what ordinary moment you photographed today. I’ll start - I photographed the tablets I forgot to take last night

#PhotographyCommunity #PhotoCollab #EveryDayPhotography #OrdinaryPhotography #PhotographyOver50 A collection of everyday photography capturing ordinary moments daily life scenes and simple compositions, part of a the Friday Focus photography community, providing a safe space for photographers to show their photos - all ages, all levels, all gear welcome.
