A glimpse into our new collaborative animation film for @lcdf27 🥰 the first of many more to come. With the ambition to create a new recognizable audiovisual language for the long term, this motion design treatment draws from lcdf27’s visual identity, itself inspired by watchmaking culture and the idea of time. The film was imagined around multiples of twelve, echoing clocks, calendars and the logic behind the graphic identity. Animated at 12 frames per second, it creates something precise and mechanical. Just like the unique identity of La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland. (Go check out their website) The original soundtrack was designed to follow the same rhythm, with a composition at 120 bpm combining percussion and samples recorded across La Chaux-de-Fonds. The idea was to create a soundtrack that felt both mechanical and deeply connected to the city. It was developed in collaboration with Arthur Henry, a local artist who brought his local recordings and sampling talents to this project. This is for us the first film that will set the style and the tone for the next 1.5 years to come at lcdf27. A new audiovisual brand language for the event to stand out. Three new films I shot for Audemars Piguet, looking at the working philosophy of different artisans, coming together to create unique watch pieces. I felt a lot of respect for the level of care they put into their craft and how they embrace the imperfections that make handmade feel handmade. Shooting this on film, I felt a lot of parallels to our processes on set. Measuring light close to the subject and looking through an eyepiece to judge it, to me is working more with your senses.
