THE GEORGE’S MURALS

Individual prints of my pieces on the north side of @georgescornerstore will be available at the Alta Art Fair next Saturday 10/17, see you there 😊

A huge thanks again to @24laproject for providing the grant to make these murals happen, and for helping organize the huge community event to paint flowers - which are all now pictured in these prints!! Anyone see the flower they painted?

I TOOK THE TRADING FLOOR FOR 24LA. ❤️☎️
Yesterday, I had the incredible honor of representing @24laproject at Cantor Fitzgerald’s Charity Day.
Charity Day was created in memory of the 658 Cantor Fitzgerald employees who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Each year, Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Group honor their colleagues and everyone whose life was forever changed that day by donating 100% of the day’s global revenues to charitable organizations around the world.
It is such a powerful example of transforming unimaginable tragedy into a beautiful day of generosity, hope, and meaningful action.
As an ambassador for 24LA, I was so proud to take over the phones, connect with traders, raise money and share a mission that I believe in deeply.
24LA was founded in the immediate aftermath of the Los Angeles fires and has since served more than 19,600 people, distributed $8.2 million in donated goods, mobilized over 1,600 volunteers, and helped bring fire affected schools and community spaces back to life.
Their work is reimagining what long term disaster recovery can look like by using art, community revitalization, youth programming, and shared experiences to restore connection, joy, and belonging.
Thank you to @edie.lutnick , the @cfrelieffund , BGC Group, and everyone who welcomed us so warmly and made this extraordinary day possible. I am so grateful to have participated and so excited to continue standing beside 24LA as they bring this work from Los Angeles to communities everywhere.
Please follow @24laproject learn more about their work, and help us continue building a future where no community has to recover alone. ❤️

TIME SENSITIVE:

Looking for a commercial space to host a Commissary Kitchen! My dear Ms. Yoland Trevino needs to relocate the shared kitchen she runs through the organization PACTL by the end of September. They work with micro- business owners to help them organize and grow their businesses. Monthly meetings are held at the Cocina De Las Abuelas to develop cohesion between businesses, improve communication and coordination, and support each other.
Micro-businesses work together to cater meals, to improve their presentations skills, take orders, and make deliveries. These jobs help build skills and experience in developing their businesses. They started in 1992, supporting pushcart vendors that sell tamales and other artisanal food items.

Lots of small businesses are dependent of their kitchen to operate legally. They need to find a new location and hopefully have it in Altadena. As the director of the Altadena Farmers’ Market I can’t emphasize enough the benefits of a shared kitchen in the area, but ran by an organization who doesn’t have profit in mind, but the mission of making it feasible for emerging businesses and also to those who are trying to recover after the fire. I’m directly connected with several food businesses, former market vendors. I had a food businesses myself, and now through the market, we are members of another shared kitchen. I know firsthand how hard it is to operate, due to high kitchen hourly costs and long distance commute and food/equipment transportation. Lots of times it’s simply impossible.

Having an affordable shared kitchen in Altadena or really close by, would make a huge difference in local small food businesses recovery, create opportunities to upcoming food businesses, and also make possible for food access organizations such as the Altadena Farmers’ Market to expand our offerings to the community and allow for long term programming.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW OF A COMMERCIAL SPACE THAT COULD ACCOMMODATE HER SHARED KITCHEN. SHE HAS ALL THE EQUIPMENT, CAN TAKE CARE OF ALL THE PERMITTING AND OF COURSE, RENT AND UTILITIES.

If you have ANY leads please DM me or text me at 626-639-5612.

Kindly,
Your neigh
