Bigger than basketball.

Spent the week documenting the 318 Sports Foundation Champions Academy

The game. The teaching. The personalities. The moments in between.

Some of my favorite frames from the week.

There are moments in your life when you know you’re on the right track and God has placed you precisely where you are in order to see the alignment, possibility, and promise for your dreams. ✨

I walked away from a week of coaching at the @318foundation Champions Academy with an even deeper conviction for the power sports plays in the lives of young girls and young women. As a coach, I take serious the responsibility of creating a safe space for my team to learn the game of basketball while simultaneously having real-time opportunities to practice leadership, cultivate sisterhood, and build enduring habits that will support their success. 318 showed me what the next level looks like for our leader-athletes.

Thank you, @alanabeard for being an example and a proof point. You have created an indelible experience that brings our young people proximate to their dreams and aspirations. Your presence throughout the Academy was not only meaningful, it served as a powerful reminder of what leadership looks like when you purposefully share the knowledge and lessons that will open doors for the next generation.

@ky_lamb15 @slushpro24 @violetalama @kkellyonpurpose and the full 318 team, you not only changed the lives of 40 young people, you have inspired me to be more courageous, to dream bigger, and to inspire the same in the leader-athletes I have the privilege of coaching. Thank you for everything you did seen and unseen to give all of us a professional, elite experience. 🤎

The Mystics, in collaboration with the 318 Foundation, hosted the 318 Champions Academy last week in DC!

Participating athletes got the opportunity to improve their basketball skills, learn financial literacy, and go behind-the-scenes at @monsportsnet.

The Champions Academy is one of my favorite times of the year, and this week in DC was another reminder of why🙌🏾 Each day was filled with growth, connection, and opportunity, and it was amazing to watch our leader-athletes and coaches lean into their development, challenge themselves, and pour into one another both on and off the court✨

Thank you to all of the leader-athletes, coaches, families, and partners who trust us and continue to allow us to be a part of your journey💜

Until next time, DC🫶🏾

My experience here has grown tremendously since last year, and I’m truly grateful for every opportunity, lesson, and memory I’ve gained along the way. Thank you 318 Sports for giving me the space and opportunity to grow not only as a basketball player, but also as a person. This experience has helped me strengthen my mindset, build confidence, and realize that there is so much more to basketball than just the game. I’m beyond thankful for everyone who has supported me, challenged me, and believed in me throughout this on going journey. 🏀💙

Dear 318,

This experience meant more to me than just basketball. Being injured taught me that I am more than an athlete, and I had to find things outside of basketball that I loved and enjoyed. I learned to appreciate new experiences, meeting new people, making memories, and simply being present.

Thank you to all of the coaches and staff at 318 Academy for welcoming me again with open arms and giving me an experience I’ll never forget. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities, lessons, connections, and memories this week gave me. I truly feel blessed to have been a part of it. 💙
