It’s important to continue to train strength and power through-out the season as well. Players that are getting significant playing time need to maintain the qualities they gained in the off-season, while players that are getting less need to continue to grow.

Keeping volume low in-season is important to make sure players stay fresh, but “low volume” is only relative to what we did in the off-season. In the off-season we did long tempos (3-7sec), so in-season tempos will stay short (0-3sec). This will keep players from getting significant muscle soreness and fatigue.

Mobility is also a focus, as the massive volume of throws and swings in-season can lead to movement restrictions at the shoulders and spine. Performing movements over-head (med-ball throws and presses) can help keep our shoulders moving well, while lengthening our obliques (side plank W/ hip dip) can help maintain spine mobility.
