DecrypTranslate
my contibution to the Il/legibility Publication of Klasse Thomas in Summer Semester 2025.

Project
I found an artefact in Morocco a small, handwritten notebook filled with Arabic script and irregular numbers. For me, it presents a dou-ble-layered encryption: 1l cannot read or speak Moroccan Arabic; 2 The handwriting itself is rough, chaotic, and difficult to decipher like a code. It feels like an encrypted message, an anonymous document whose purpose and content are unknown. Through this project, l will attempt to decode and interpret the notebook using a mix of modern technologies. Scanning to digital text formats through OCR scan, covert and translate the text by computer. The translations, the misreadings, the lost meanings, and the technological errors will be documented and rearranged as different layers of understanding. This investigative project symbolizes the fragility of meaning-how it shifts across languages, technologies, and cultural boundaries.

Publication beautifully crafted by Emma Dreiucker and Andrin Brühlhart @3mdus @andrin_bruelhart with contributions of all class members of Klasse Thomas, Summer 2025.

New beginnings. WHATEVER® shifts from boardroom to boutique, panel to pop-up, idea to product, tasting room to think tank. Whatever 2026 brings.

Last semester we had the honor to design the latest publication for @abk_inkubator
“Unfold – Kartografen des Ästhetischen“ showcases the UV-maps of 32 3D scanned objects, that were developed in the seminar “Grundlagen der Gestaltung und experimentelles Entwerfen“.
This publication is a playful attempt to experience three-dimensional objects through a two-dimensional medium, focusing on surface and texture only.

Collaboration: @linusgeiss, @3mdus & @marcroecker

This is Not a Political Statement —این یک بیانیهٔ سیاسی نیست—

This project is the outcome of a 3 day typography and print workshop with @golnarkat at @abkstuttgart. She introduced us to her project @typeandpolitics and the importance of the topic of prejudice regarding arabic/persian typography.

Through the exposure of persian typography on garnments we want to give people the opportunity to experience the beauty and detail of arabic typography in a playful context.
