This year’s RemixEd Conference was one for the books!

Rooted in Creativity as Civic Power, we gathered to learn, imagine, and explore how remixing education can become a powerful force for social change.

Deep gratitude to the @hsraminnesota , @4learningedu , @davidtcellis , Tony , @lastnamelipset , @tdj6899 , and everyone who helped bring this experience to life.

A special congratulations to my sister in the movement @iammarthadiaz , on receiving the RemixEd Award for her commitment to creativity, justice, and transformative practices. So well deserved!

From experiencing Prince’s creative sanctuary at @officialpaisleypark (truly one of the most unique musical experiences of my life!) to hearing the deeply personal leadership journeys of @colossaleducator , Martha, and TC, this gathering was a reminder of the power of creativity, storytelling, and community.

Grateful to share and learn from the work of Martha, the Hip-Hop Education Round Table, @pinqy.ring , the @hiphopeducationcenter & our deep dive, Remixing the Blueprint: Co-Creating the National Hip-Hop Education Guidelines & Index, alongside educators and practitioners imagining new possibilities for teaching and learning.

And of course shoutout to @mickey.breeze for the vibes and @tdj6899 for being the illest emcee and organizer to rock the mic!

Thankful for these sacred spaces to connect, create, and collectively remix what education can be for our young people.

Until next year!

🙏🏽🥹I’m deeply honored and grateful to share that I received the 2026 RemixED Award for Creative, Just & Transformative Practices at the RemixED Conference.

Being acknowledged by my own community means the world to me because, at the heart of everything I do, I do this work for my people. For our culture, our communities, our stories, and the generations coming after us.

Much love to my @4learningedu / High School for Recording Arts (@hsraminnesota) familia, not only for this beautiful recognition but for the visionary work you do to create spaces where Hip-Hop, education, creativity, justice, and community intersect and unites us. A special shout-out to David “TC” Ellis, Tony Simmons, and Michael Lipset for your leadership, unwavering commitment, and the love you pour into this movement.

For over three decades, Hip-Hop has been my classroom, my community, my purpose, and my life’s work. Moments like this remind me that the greatest reward isn’t the recognition itself, but the love, relationships, and collective impact we build along the way.

And to my @hiphopeducationcenter (HHEC) familia, this recognition is a reflection of the work we do together. Thank you for believing in our vision, showing up with love and purpose, and helping build a movement that continues to inspire, educate, and transform lives. I couldn’t do this without you. This honor belongs to all of us! 🙏🏽💗✊🏽

All roads lead to the Twin Cities, MN for the @4learningedu RemixEd Conference this week at @hsraminnesota ! This year’s theme is: Creativity As A Civic Power and you can feel that theme weaved through the entire experience. Greatful to co-present a Deep Dive session alongside my sister in the movement @iammarthadiaz . We’ll be focused on: Remixing The Blueprint: Co-Creating The National Hip-Hop Education Guidelines & Index. Sharing some of the work that the @hiphopeducationcenter has done over the past few years to gather this resource and more. If you’re in MN this week pull up!

Our amazing @studio4la / @newearthlife Recording Arts students hit the studio today to collaborate with Ms Mandy’s English class. N’Kiyah and Malaysia did great their first time using Pro Tools! Ariah and Julieta did great being in the booth behind the mic for the first time ever! What a great session! Mandy and Scott are very proud teachers today 🎤

Today students in my Recording Arts CTE class learned about Signal Flow and how to properly setup a home recording studio. I demonstrated the proper setup first and then they took turns setting it up on their own. They were able to assist each other until the microphone and the midi keyboard both produced audible signal. Each week we will do this activity until each of my students can set everything up in under 2 minutes. In the audio engineering world, time is money! I’m proud of my guys. They did great today. 🎤🎹💻🎧
