💜 Omega Black History 💛

Day 12 - Social Action — Service with Structure. Impact with Intention.

Since its founding in 1911 at Howard University, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has stood on four Cardinal Principles:
Manhood. Scholarship. Perseverance. Uplift.

Our Social Action Plan is where those principles meet the community.

Omega’s Social Action efforts are not random acts of service — they are organized, measured, and internationally guided initiatives designed to produce real impact. Chapters are evaluated using formal criteria established by the International Social Action Committee, ensuring accountability, consistency, and meaningful engagement.

To be considered for Social Action recognition, chapters must complete all nine internationally mandated programs, including:

• Achievement Week
• Scholarship
• Talent Hunt
• Memorial Service
• Reclamation & Retention
• NAACP
• Health Initiatives
• College Endowment Fund
• STEM

Beyond mandated programs, Omega emphasizes Special Emphasis Initiatives, including:

✔️ Fatherhood & Mentoring
✔️ Voter Registration, Education & Mobilization
✔️ Mental Health Awareness
✔️ Domestic Violence Awareness
✔️ Charles R. Drew Blood Drives
✔️ Big Brother–Big Sister Partnerships

Chapters also engage in additional community service such as food and clothing drives, Boys & Girls Club partnerships, United Way support, Habitat for Humanity projects, mentoring programs, and clean-up efforts — all documented and evaluated for measurable impact.

This structure reflects Omega’s belief that service must be intentional and sustained, not occasional.

From local communities to national advocacy, Omega’s Social Action Plan continues a legacy of civic engagement that has included members who shaped civil rights, public policy, education, and global leadership.

Service structured for impact. Uplift rooted in action.

“A crust of bread and a corner to sleep in,
A minute to smile and an hour to weep in,
A pint of joy to a peck of trouble,
And never a laugh but the moans come double;
And that is life!”

Yesterday, we fed over 1,000 people impacted by Hurricane Helene in Valdosta. Bruhz drove 100+ miles just to lend a hand—some who’ve been in the Frat since 1965.

Being part of a brotherhood that finds fellowship through service is a feeling I can’t explain, but happy to have. Grateful to stand alongside men who live the true meaning of friendship and always ready to uplift of our communities.

Operation BBQ Relief: A Success!

A huge thank you to the Men of Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Macedonia Church First Baptist, the Department of Health, Kelly Saxon, and all the amazing volunteers!

Together, we served over 1,000 people impacted by Hurricane Helene, through walk-ins, pickups, and deliveries for those unable to travel.

We’re so grateful to everyone who contributed to helping our community recover. We’ll be back next week on Saturday for our “Project Uplift” event, October 12th to continue rebuilding, uplifting, and strengthening together.

Let’s keep the momentum going! 💜 #valdosta #omegapsiphi #valdostaques #albanyques #thomasvilleques #tallahaseques #CommunityStrong #HurricaneHeleneRelief #TogetherWeCan
