Give them a camera. Give them a voice. Watch what happens!

The young men at Cobham Youth Justice Centre created their own music video with ZOKU Creative x @4thwallproject

But the film was only the beginning.

At graduation, they shared what the experience meant to them.

Their voices. Their story. Their work.

Our workshops aren’t just fun, they build confidence, communication skills and real opportunities to career pathways. That’s real IMPACT 🗣️

Thank you to our special guests @hadynwings from @takeflightau, @nakamaarts_au @audiotechnicaau @geedupco Councillor @julie.griffiths52 from @blacktowncitycouncil

🙏 to the Cobham team for your ongoing trust and support.

I was invited to Cobham Youth Justice Centre by the team at Zoku Creative & 4th Wall Project for the graduation of a workshop they had been working on with a few of the youngins inside..

Over 4, 1.5 hour sessions the team worked with a group of boys to produce, record & film both the song and its music video all behind the walls of the Youth Justice Centre.

I got to listen to speeches from the boys about how much they enjoyed and learnt from the sessions and was asked to say a few quick words on the spot - I truely believe music really has so much power to change lives, whether it’s just as a listener or as someone who contributes to the music world in any way, shape and form.. was hectic to see these fellas given a chance to give it a good go even with position they’ve currently found themselves in.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk 😂🩵

Our music video workshop with @4thwallproject is officially live on our YouTube channel!
What started as a fun idea has now become something that can truly be life-changing.
We are super proud of this project and are really happy with the results. It’s ok to reflect and be proud of ourselves! @turquoiseprince @johnnie.social.1eighty @booringjames @tak_hatanaka

When you LOVE what you do and your WHY is bigger than your ego… YOU CANNOT LOSE. 🔥

The passion. The purpose. The people.

That’s the real flex. 💯

Much love to programs manager Shannon for your continued belief and trust you have in us to continue this work inside 🙏❤️

Grateful for the opportunity to premiere the first ever song to be played on @triple_j that was written and recorded inside a Youth Justice Centre in Australia, at Cobham Youth Justice Centre.

The song is a Love song. It doesn’t promote violence or crime. It’s an incredible example of youth in detention using their creativity to express themselves in a positive way.

This is a huge milestone and I think a big step in the right direction in terms of opportunity and possibility for youth in detention.

This is just the beginning. #4thwallproject

Our video workshops don’t have a template. Why? Because we keep innovating and finding ways to make it more engaging. We always want to do what the kids are keen to learn. That way, the outcome is always successful. Our music video workshop was requested by a YP in Cobham and we decided to team up with @4thwallproject by @turquoiseprince to execute one of the best programs out in Australia. (Yes we said it 🗣️)

Honoured to premiere the first ever song to be played on National Radio that was written and recorded inside a youth justice centre in Australia, at Cobham Youth Justice Centre.

The song is a Love song. It doesn’t promote violence or crime. It’s an incredible example of youth in detention using their creativity to express themselves in a positive way.

I’m proud of the lads and what they’ve achieved. I hope something like this can inspire young people to see that they are seen, heard and that there are many options, opportunities and paths to take in life.

I wanna thank my @geedupco family @audiotechnicaau @tak_hatanaka @zoku_creative @ev.o.l @sebastianmadeit @agirlartist @lachiebalboa @triple_j @chasmbeats @mcpsmurf @hadynwings for being a part of such a huge milestone.

This is just the beginning.

Spent some time with Turquoise Prince who’s using music to make a real impact. Through the 4th Wall Project, he works with young people in juvenile detention, giving them the opportunity to write, record, and produce their own music—turning creativity into a positive outlet and helping them find their voice. Stories like these deserve to be shared. 🎤

HUGE shoutout to Wings from @takeflightau for coming down to Cobham Youth Justice Centre for the 4WP x @zoku_creative Music Program Graduation.

We got to showcase the final video clip as well as a documentary of the making of an incredible song professionally recorded, mix/mastered and shot by 3 of the boys at Cobham.

It was super inspiring for everyone to hear @hadynwings speak about his journey, his opinion of the song /music video - as well as give some genuine words of encouragement to these boys.

All in all it was a great day. Thank you to everyone involved 🙏🏾🩵

What a week it’s been.
After weeks of hard work, collaboration and creativity, we’re just one week away from the official screening of @zoku_creative and @4thwallproject by @turquoiseprince inside @nswdcj Cobham Youth Justice Centre

Seeing the boys pour themselves into this project and watching their confidence grow throughout the process has been incredible.
Next week, they’ll get to experience the finished product, a professionally mixed and mastered song accompanied by their very own music video alongside their units and support networks.

These screenings are always special. The atmosphere is filled with positivity, pride and excitement as the boys see what they’re capable of when given the opportunity to create, express themselves and work together.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. We can’t wait to celebrate their achievements with them.
