In recognition of Black History Month UK, we’re celebrating the stories, achievements and journeys of inspiring founders in our communities. Meet Mercedes - the founder of 4YaParty, a South London-based sustainable events business creating weddings, corporate events, birthdays and more 🎉 After leaving teaching, she started 4YaParty in 2018 when complications during pregnancy meant she couldn’t return to work. What began as a creative outlet soon became a growing business. When COVID-19 stopped events, 4YaParty pivoted to party boxes and personalised gifts, keeping celebrations, and the business, going. Today, sustainability is central to the brand. No balloons or single-use plastic decor, reclaimed and upcycled materials wherever possible, a tree planted for every booking and annual carbon offsetting 🌱 Through Grow London Local, Mercedes accessed marketing, AI and business support from @digitalboost.org.uk and @foundervine, helping increase turnover by 12% and expand her team and inventory. 💬 Her advice? “Not everybody is your client.” Next, 4YaParty is working towards its long-term ambition of franchising the brand and bringing sustainable event styling across the South East. 👉 Read more about 4YaParty and discover the stories of other inspiring founders featured in our Black History Month blog – see link in our bio! #SustainableWeddingsLondon #EcoFriendlyEventsUK #SustainableEventStyling #SouthLondonBusiness #WomenEntrepreneursUK

CONSCIOUS CONNECTIONS - KENT // Join us at Hayne House on Tuesday 10th November 2026 from 10:00-13:00 🌿 Gather for a morning of purposeful connection at @haynehouseweddingvenuekent, with our ambassador Fleur Record-Smith. Their last event brought together some of Kent’s leading wedding venues and suppliers, and we’re excited to see this community continue to grow. This isn’t your average networking mixer. Conscious Connections are designed to be a “no-judgment” space where wedding pros can step away from their busy studios and offices to reconnect, share ideas, and focus on building businesses that are as kind to people as they are to the planet. What’s on the agenda?: 💡 Wedding Customer Journeys that Convert in 2026: We are thrilled to be joined by Kelly Chandler (@kelly__chandler), a leading wedding industry consultant, for a talk on changing customer behaviours and designing journeys that compel couples to take next steps. 🌱 Embedding Sustainability in Daily Operations: Mercedes Gale-Parr (@4yaparty), founder of a multi-award-winning sustainable venue styling business and fellow SWA Ambassador, will share honest, practical insight into how she integrates environmental responsibility into her everyday business decisions. Tickets & Donations: 🎟️ There is a £15 ticket fee for this event*. All profits will go directly to environmental and social impact charities chosen by our regional ambassadors, ensuring your attendance contributes to meaningful change in the local community. Registration is essential as capacity is limited. We encourage you to bring a “business bestie” or a colleague along! Simply register an additional ticket for them at checkout. You can book your tickets and find full details at the link in bio 🔗 *tickets are free for members with optional donation #weddingindustry #kentweddings #weddingindustrynetworking #sustainableweddingbusiness #climateaction
