I just noticed something from the @5thregiment_ra post about their new stable belts—something that nicely follows on from my post about the new belt this morning.

This is the Commanding Officer of 5th Regiment Royal Artillery wearing his Special Observer badge under his Deep Strike Recce Brigade TRF. He’s obviously earned it through time served with 4/73 (Sphinx) Special OP Battery.

As well as rocking the new stable belt, nice.

Here is the newest stable belt in the British Army, added to the collection through a kind donation by a member of the unit.

This is now the stable belt worn by 5 Regiment Royal Artillery (5 RA) The belt is dark grey, with the 5 RA cypher centrally placed on the belt locket.

According to the @5thregiment_ra Instagram page 5th Regiment Royal Artillery - The Yorkshire Gunners - have adopted their new Regimental Belts, marking another step in strengthening the Regiment’s identity.

The new belts coincide with the Regiment returning to its roots and once again proudly utilising the historic
5RA Cypher.

More than a change in appearance, they represent a unified Regiment with a shared identity and a clear operational purpose.

Members of the Regiment come towards the end of Week 2, putting the work in on the hills.

Covering the distance and conditioning the body, developing endurance and building the mental resilience needed to keep going when fatigue sets in.

Consistency, effort and progression. Building on the foundations and raising the standard each week.

The Platoon Commander receives to word the dawn attack on a built up complex is clear. This was one of our first outing under the new 1 DRS (now 3 DRS) Brigade. Tricky conditions due to low light so a bit of denoise on these images helped. #military #british #army #soldier #training

𝟐𝟎𝟏 (𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐒) 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐔𝐓𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐘 𝐑𝐀 (𝐕)

It’s been a hectic few weeks and finally things are slowing down, so I’ve managed to go through my badge collection and dig out some spares to list and move on. In doing that I came across this little gem tucked away that is definitely staying put!

A Pegasus Flash that was worn by 201 (Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire) Parachute Battery, Royal Artillery (Volunteers) before they disbanded. These badges seem incredibly hard to come across!

The Pegasus Flash with green edging was a battle honour worn on the cuff of No.2 Dress/FAD and JMH, that was awarded to one of the units predecessors; 64th Medium Regt, Royal Artillery, who during Operation Market Garden were a part of XXX Corps and provided consistent and accurate artillery fire over the river Rhine for the 1st Airborne Division at Arnhem.

201 Battery was a part of 100th (Yeomanry) Regiment, Royal Artillery and supported 7 Para RHA on Op Telic and Op Herrick deployments. The battery sadly disbanded in 2014 and this unusual battle honour has been lost.

One of the troops within the battery was 289 Parachute Troop (formerly Commando Tp before moving into 201 Bty) that survived the disbandment by moving across to @104regimentra and becoming a Commando Tp once again. The Tp relocated to the Citadel in Plymouth and supports @29commando. The troop also has a rich airborne lineage originating from 289 Parachute Light Regiment RA (TA) in 1956 as a part of 44 Para Bde (V).

Week One almost complete 💪

53 Air Assault Battery’s pre-conditioning programme is well underway in preparation for AAPPS.

Personnel from across 53 AA Bty, 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, 5 RA Workshop and 12 Regiment Royal Artillery have all got stuck straight into the programme.

The first week has focused on building a strong physical foundation, developing individual and team resilience, as well as getting familiar with routes across Catterick Training Area.

A solid first week, with plenty more to come.

[ LOOK BACK | SIX-A-SIDE SUCCESS ⚽ ]

Competition, teamwork and plenty of goals as Army Sport North brought soldiers from across the region together for its 6-a-side football competition.

Hosted at Wavell Sports Pitches, 156 soldiers from 12 units took part, with 127 male and 29 female competitors representing six Major and six Minor Units.

🏆 Men’s Cup Winners – 5 RA
🏆 Female Cup Winners – 5 RA
🏆 Men’s Plate Winners – 21 MMR

An outstanding performance from 5 Regiment Royal Artillery, whose men’s side reached the final without conceding a single goal, before completing a memorable double alongside their female team.

Army sport is about more than the result - building teamwork, resilience, competitive spirit and unit cohesion across the force.
A strong day of competition in the North. ⚽💪
