I recently had a 121 meeting with the Vice President, @scottgombar, owner of @nwajtech, in my @bni.global chapter, @electriccityconnectionsbni.
.
121s are critical in relationship building, which makes it easier to pass referrals. There’s a science behind a BNI 121, and we follow it to learn more about the people in our chapter so we can feel confident passing referrals.
.
Because Scott and I are founding members of our chapter, and have known each other for MANY years, we also now work together. He manages my IT and cybersecurity. My company, @628digitaldesign writes and distributes his email newsletter, and we partner all the time on contracts.
.
How can strong relationships help grow your business? Our BNI meets every Thursday at noon on Zoom. Visit bit.ly/eccbni to visit for FREE!!

👩🏽‍🏫👩🏽‍🏫 Thank you, @waterburyblackbusinessnetwork for inviting me to be a Fellowship Facilitator for the Blackprint Business Fellowship program!
.
In this session, we reviewed the one-page business model canvas and of course I threw in a little bit about navigating LinkedIn and corporate and federal contracting 👩🏽‍💻
.
I had such a great time with the Fellows, and I wish everyone success and prosperity in their businesses!!

🔥🔥 Day 2 of Session 2 of the @wbecnydmv SAGE Advice 2026 program is a wrap, and my brain is full in the best way💡‼️
.
Myself and my fellow WBEs enjoyed two full days at the @capitalone building in the city.
.
💰💰Session two was all about digging into business finances, best practices, and building relationships with bankers. As a certified B Corp, I especially enjoyed the session on ESG and sustainability ♻️
.
The best part of the program is the relationships. We’re building real connections with fellow WBEs, our Capital One Business Resource Partners (BRPs), instructors, program leads, and WBEC SAGE alums. And yes, Scorgee, our program mascot, sat on my desk all day today 😂😂
.
SAGE (Strategies to Advance and Grow Enterprises), in partnership with Capital One, gives women business leaders dedicated time to focus on strategy, strengthen operations, and plan for growth. We’re back in November to keep building our One Page Business Plans with @lhamiltoncpa and prepare our pitch decks.
.
Interested? Applications for the 2027 Greater DMV SAGE cohort are open now: bit.ly/SAGE2027DMV

🔥🔥 As a member of the @hamdenchamber, I get to join my chamber networking group biweekly to learn more about their businesses.
.
Today, @fawnluuv of @mfonogbeborstatefarmagency was our guest speaker, and she shared so many great tips about business and personal insurance. We all learned so much!!
.
If you’re in the Hamden area, you should stop in and check it out. The Chamber also has a few other networking groups you can visit.

Last week, @eversourceenergy hosted a Supplier Engagement Summit to invite businesses and resource partners to its campus and learn more about doing business with Eversource.
.
It was great seeing my colleagues from the @mccforct, @newenglandbgc, and the MBDA. I also met a few new business owners I look forward to meeting with.
.
As a current Eversource supplier, I had an opportunity to participate in the matchmaker and have an in-depth conversation with my purchasing team. I was so excited to meet my Sourcing Agent, Galina!! I am forever grateful for all of Galina’s support as an Eversource supplier! Thank you!!

📚✏️ A couple of weeks ago when the kids went back to school, I also went back to school to attend @wbecnydmv’s SAGE Advice business development program in partnership with @capitalone. We spent two days at the Capital One offices in NY to officially launch the program!
.
We started the week before with a virtual kickoff, that I took from the Louisville airport 😅😅 and was able to meet my BRP for the first time.
.
From now through December, I will collaborate with other certified women business enterprises (WBEs), my Capital One Business Resource Partner (BRP) - Michael, WBEC staff, SAGE alumni, and our cohort mascot, Scorgee, to critically assess my business, review our financials, operations, systems, and procedures, and develop a realistic one page business plan.
.
The program is led by Vanessa and Deena from @wbecnydmv, overseen by WBEC NY President, @bikrgirl2, and facilitated by Allison Kube and @lhamiltoncpa. I have worked with these ladies online over several years, and I am so excited to partner with them again, and in person!
.
I entered the program knowing several other WBEs - @simone.e.morris of @simonemorrisent, @sherenestrausberg of @87thstreetcreative, and @callbarnes6 of @sgwmarketing. I’ve already started developing partnerships, relationships, and collaborations with the other ladies, and I look forward to watching each of their businesses continue to succeed!!
.
See y’all in October!
.
P.S. This is another benefit of being certified through @wbenc as a women’s business enterprise (WBE). Still not certified? Let’s chat.
