TONIGHT! More jazz guitars than you can shake a stick at! Well, you can shake your sticks at us, (and I'm sure Craig will), but you can't stop us from playing jazz! Ab Menon, Daven Tillinghast, EJ Crocker, Phil Lawson, Tarik Bentlemsani, Vince Brown with Steve Luceno & Nick Rawson in the bass chair and Craig Cootsona on drums! And yes all of the guitarists will be onstage at the same time trading solos! A true "Too Much is Not Enough" event! Olympia Jazz Central is sponsoring the show at The Eagles Lounge in downtown Olympia (you don't have to be a member to attend). All ages! Pay what you can. Hope to see you tonight!

Welcome Ab Menon to The Carpenter’s House stage! Anyone like jazz? Ab blessed the house with this beautiful number moments after our cello performance. Let’s turn Friday into open studio for musicians at TCH! If you have it, bring it! Love y’all❤️

Some really kind words from one of our students Kit about the class.

I take seriously the responsibility to guide students through learning difficult music concepts that empower them to write songs that feel meaningful to them.

You can still sign up for "write a song using music theory" via the link in our bio. And we'll be selling this as a Video on Demand video course as well.

What other classes would you like us to teach? Have you had any special music teachers in your life?

First class is a success! We covered the fundamentals of music theory: 12 notes, intervals, the major scale, minor scale, diatonic chords. All focused on helping our students write songs and express themselves.

There's still time to join! You can hop on now, and watch the recordings for the first class and jump in tomorrow for the next class.

What's another class you'd like to see us offer? I'm considering developing "Guitar for complete beginners" and "Guitar level 1 (beginner)" classes. Thoughts?

·.¸¸.·♩♪♫ Meet your teacher ♫♪♩·.¸¸.·

This session of “Write a song using music theory” will be taught by ab Menon. I know ab from our time together teaching music at blue bear school of music in SF. He is an incredibly talented guitarist, and a very kind and clear communicator. I think you’ll love learning with him.

Here’s his official bio:
ab Menon started playing music at a young age and graduated from Sonoma State University with a B.M. in Jazz Studies and Applied Music before continuing on to complete his M.M. in Jazz Studies at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He has taught music for over a decade.

ab has worked in numerous songwriter-focused bands, shepherding songs from initial vision to full band arrangements. He combines his deep guitar chops, knowledge of theory, and songwriting experience with a friendly and approachable teaching style, making him a perfect teacher for both experienced songwriters and those new to the craft.

Sign up via link in bio—class starts next Thurs Oct 30, 2025
