Unlock your hips. Athletes, fitness enthusiasts, general population, elderly movers… so much of movement originates from the hip complex. Hip capability is essential for everything from everyday movement as well as high level competition. Standing Hip CARs is a simple exercise to use daily multiple times a day to both optimize and improve the workspace of the hip.

Off-season training for professional basketball players. We want to begin the program by concentrating on rebuilding connective tissue and ensuring resilience in ligament and tendon health. We do this by concentrating on eccentric and isometric work as well as range of motion and capability of joints. It is important to initially address all of the wear and tear from the long season, before trying to make any major adaptation changes.

Incorporating unilateral strength training to your workouts is imperative. Each one of the best exercises to develop glute and hamstring strength and stability is the single leg RDL. One of the main reasons why I love incorporating the SLRDL is because of how it targets the glute medius. The medius is so important for stability and lumbar hip function. The problem we often experience is that most general population people have a difficult time executing the movement. Typically, this is because of the lack of understanding of how to properly move their body as well as the dysfunction that has been created through sedentary jobs and lifestyle. This three step progression will help to properly execute this movement and allow you to add this exercise into your repertoire.
