NoGi might be the faster way to understand JiuJitsu.

The Gi gives us more grips, more guard systems and more technical possibilities. That makes it incredibly rich, but also more complex.

NoGi removes some of those variables, allowing you to focus on the fundamentals of grappling without relying on lapels and sleeve grips.

Does that make NoGi better? Not necessarily.

Sometimes, removing options helps you understand the bigger picture.

But here’s the question: does learning NoGi first make you a better grappler, or does the Gi teach you a level of control that you can’t afford to miss?

Here’s the interesting part: I believe someone who understands Gi Jiu-Jitsu can often adapt to NoGi relatively quickly, because they already understand the positions and concepts.

But someone learning NoGi still needs to learn those fundamentals before adding the extra complexity of Gi grips and guards.

Quantas vezes juramos que permaneceremos firmes, sem saber quão escura será a estrada?

Alguns caem porque se tornam prisioneiros das próprias palavras.

porém, descobrem dentro de si uma força que jamais imaginavam possuir.

Talvez seja esse o verdadeiro dilema de uma promessa: ela pode ser uma corrente que nos prende ao passado ou uma força que nos obriga a continuar quando tudo dentro de nós pede para desistir.

Porque ninguém sabe quem será quando a noite finalmente chegar.

It’s a position that gives you so many possibilities, you can threaten the legs, create strong upper-body control, transition into different attacks and constantly force your opponent to react.

K-Guard has become a huge part of modern JiuJitsu, and there’s a reason so many high-level players are using it.
