She’s usually the one interviewing but this time, breast cancer survivor and my @wtvmnewsleader9 co-anchor @barbgaux is in the hot seat on my “Run The Race” podcast…opening up about her cancer journey…the power of prayer, exercise and community…and coping with trauma, stress in a 35+ year #TVnews career.

Every year I attend the @nabjofficial Convention & Career Fair, I leave feeling like the theme somehow found me right where I am.

From connecting with seasoned professionals to sitting in workshops that challenged me to think differently about my career, I walked away with something I didn’t know I needed: confidence to move boldly. This year’s message for me was clear: take the risk, be strategic and take the leap of faith.

Sometimes we spend so much time waiting for the right opportunity, the right moment or the right sign that we forget movement is part of the process.

So, if you’ve also been stuck in the unknown…it’s time to move.

Move scared. Move strategically. Move with faith. But move. 🙏🏾

Goodbye Gabby!
Glad I got to co-anchor and laugh one more time with @gabjohnsontv who’s been a part of our team and a fun-loving light in our newsroom for 4 years.
She’s heading back home to Montgomery. We wish her GODspeed on new anchor/reporter job at our Gray sister station @wsfa12news.

Necessary. That’s my one word to describe the NABJ 2026 Convention. This year and every year!

Had a great time sharpening skills and remembering our why.

🚨🚨 PROUD BFF MOMENT 🚨🚨

IYKYK… the McKinney’s and Simpson’s are family. ❤️🇺🇸

We were incredibly proud to witness @chrismckinney96 being inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Michael, one of the Army’s distinguished recognitions honoring leaders whose service, integrity, and lasting contributions have made a significant impact. There couldn’t be a more deserving recipient.

Over 35 years ago at our beloved Alabama A&M University, God connected our families, and we’ve been doing life together ever since.

Watching Chris grow from an ROTC cadet to retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, and now continuing to shape the next generation as a JROTC instructor, has been an incredible journey to witness. He’s always been the kind of man who goes above and beyond.

This honor also reflects the sacrifices of my BFF Yaya, and my Goddaughter @_.lexsis . During Chris’s deployments, they spent summers with us, and we witnessed firsthand the strength, resilience, and sacrifices military families make. Their love and support have been an important part of Chris’s journey.

Chris, Yaya, and Alexis, we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor. We love you all and are grateful to celebrate this special moment with you.
