Channeling creativity into being.

On April 14, MSA (@msa.action) hosted their annual Music Sustainability Summit in Hollywood at Solotech Studios. A day full of panels, workshops, and networking, bringing together music industry executives to celebrate green practices and innovation. EARTH CALLING’s founder, Jo Little (@jonotsolittle) joined the stage as a moderator for “Music’s Impact on Culture is its Climate Superpower”, a conversation between artists Madame Gandhi (@madamegandhi) and Rozzi (@thisisrozzi).

Centered on creativity, the speakers described how art emotionally expands us and bridges different channels of being. Madame Gandhi discussed bringing her album to life with the help of Indigenous practitioners, and how she brings meditative practices to her fans by creating immersive experiences at album listening parties, recreating natural landscapes with acoustic instruments.

Rozzi, based in LA, discussed beginning a book club and how she connects to her fans through reading culture. Her single, “Orange Skies” with Sounds Right, was recorded with the birdsongs from the plot of land her brother’s home burned down on during the 2025 LA wildfires. Most of the recording royalties from the song are donated to global conservation initiatives.

Earth Calling: “If your art could communicate one message about nature, what would it be?”

Dianna: “For me, it’s the feeling of belonging ~ of being fully accepted. Whenever I step into nature, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be, and every part of me is welcomed. She has this way of gathering us in like her own children, reminding us that we come from her, and that we’ve always belonged. May my art always be a reflection and invitation of that feeling mama nature gives me.”

@ourearthcalling brings artists and visionaries together to use creative superpowers to heal our connection with nature, through events and grant programs they uplift creatives — to support nature through their art.

“I always think that the impact of a project goes far beyond what you could measure with your metrics — it’s about the relationships that are built.”

With a hope to unite creatives and bring Earth-centered events to life, nonprofit Music Matters (@musicmatters.earth) celebrated the launch of their LA-based program Earth Calling earlier this month. 🎶🌎💚

Hosted at the stunning @thenesthollywood, the event was an inspiring evening of community, creativity, and artistry. A plant-based cuisine was curated by @noah_vernick, inviting guests to revel in the taste of creation.

@antoniquesmith began the night with an incredible performance of “Love Song to the Earth” and “Here Comes the Sun”, leading into a panel on culture meets climate, moderated by environmentalist and author Leah Thomas (@greengirlleah).

Panelists @revyearwood @diandramarizet @matowayuhi @tanishalovesyoutoo explored the connection between culture and climate, emphasizing the role of artists leading the movement.

If the world feels really joyful or heavy, artists do this beautiful job of synthesizing that and offering something that builds permission to explore something new and engage in something more vulnerably.” — Diandra Marizet

Artists Xiuhtezcatl (@xiuhtezcatl) and Mato Wayuhi (@matowayuhi) ended the evening with raw, lyrical performances, using their cultural backgrounds to influence the sound and storytelling of their craft.

Earth Matters is now offering grants to LA-based creatives to inspire hope through art and amplify the voice of Mother Nature.

Lights! Cameras! CLIMATE ACTION! 💥🎬

The @collidescope.foundation and @laclimateweek were proud community partners at the @hollywoodclimatesummit for their 2025 event. It was an incredible experience to support and listen to inspiring conversations led by industry leaders, entertainers, and climate experts. ✨🧡🎭

A few takeaways:

🎥 Use Entertainment for Climate Action: Storytelling through film, music, and performance, has the ability to do more than entertain – they can move us to act. By using powerful visuals, meaningful lyrics, and engaging with fan communities, the entertainment industry can help shape how we think about climate solutions.

🔥 Keep Up the Heat to Drive Policy Change: The louder and more proactive we are about climate, the harder it is to ignore. Several speakers reflected on using storytelling to drive powerful narratives and keep the heat on the issues at hand – because policy doesn’t move until we demand better.

🫂 Build Community to Define Solutions: When neighbors, friends, and local groups unite, hope turns into action. Joining locally led programs and activities will create lasting relationships and help define solutions. Multiple panels explored the role of community in the fight against climate change, emphasizing on the possibilities through collective action and shared experiences.

🕸️🌸Yao Mei Jing: “My Collection is called “Blooming through Chaos” based on personal experiences, revolving around mental health/insomnia, overcoming and growing from these experiences. There’s a touch of dystopia/futuristic, interwoven string/“spider webs,” grunge elements to portray the Chaos blended with florals to symbolize the Blooming aspect; essence of light and darkness. I want my collection to be able to relate to people, and be an outlet of self expression.”
